Arthur V. Anderson dies Tuesday

Arthur Vernon Anderson of Booneville, were held Wednesday at Lebanon Methodist Church with Bro. Hassell Wallis officiating. Burial was in the adjoining cemetery with McMillan Funeral Directors in charge.

Mr. Anderson died Tuesday at 2:15 a.m. in Caldwell Memorial Hospital following an illness of one year. He was a member of Mount Olive Baptist Church, a self-employed carpenter, and World War I veteran, He was 61.

He leaves his father, Noah Arthur Anderson of Baldwyn; a son, Frank Anderson of Baldwyn; a daughter, Mrs. Harry Peck of Louisville, Ky., a brother, Albert Anderson of Dumas; three sisters, Mrs. James Wallis of Kentucky, Mrs. Sam Outlaw of Memphis and Mrs. Eugene Glover of Oklahoma City, Okla., and four grandchildren.

BRYAN ANDERSON

Bryan Anderson, 73, of 3375 Justine, Memphis, died Thursday, July 4, 1985, at his residence following an extended illness.

Services were Saturday, July 6, at the Hines-Smith Cosmopolitan Funeral Home chapel. Burial was in Memorial Hill Cemetery Gardens.

Mr. Anderson was a retired employee of Fairstone Rubber Company and was a member of the Hollywood Baptist Church. He was a former resident of Prentiss County.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Era Wren Anderson; three daughters, Mrs. Sue Sanders, Mrs. Mary Jean Cain and Mrs. Lucy Moore, all of Memphis; three brothers, A. E. Anderson of Huntsville, Ala., Harvey Anderson of Columbus, Ohio, and Dennis Anderson of Memphis; three sisters, Ora Bell Anderson and Mrs. Zera Duggar, both of Booneville, and Mrs. Loraine Berry of Sulligent, Ala.; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

W. H. ANDERSON

Relatives of Chancellor William H. Anderson of Ripley, who died Sunday in Jackson, have requested donations be made to a scholarship fund at Peoples Bank in Ripley in lieu of flowers.

The body will lie in state 10 a.m. to noon today before services at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Ripley. Burial will be in the Ripley Cemetery with Ripley Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

CHARLES W. ANDERSON

BALDWYN - Charles W. Anderson, 93, died Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2004, at his home. He was a member of Sandhill M.B. Church. He was the assistant superintendent of the Sunday school, church treasurer, assistant treasurer of the building fund and church usher. He was employed by Northwestern Railroad in Chicago.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Sandhill M.B. Church in Baldwyn with the Rev. Lincoln Bradley officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Agnew and Sons Funeral Home of Baldwyn is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include his wife, Susie Anderson of Baldwyn; two daughters, Charlene Anderson of Baldwyn and Betty Ballard of Los Angeles, Calif.; a son, Jack Reed and wife, Nicole, of Chicago; a sister, Mattie Bailey of Chicago; seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, a special godson, Herschel Copeland of Baldwyn.

Visitation will be from noon to 6 p.m. today. The body will be placed in the church one hour prior to services.

CLARA FAE ANDERSON

Clara Fae Anderson, 70, died Sunday, Feb. 27, 2000, at Wesley Nursing Home in Millington, Tenn.

Services were held Wednesday, March 1, at Munford Funeral Home in Millington, Tenn., with the Rev. Billy Harold officiating.

She is survived by her husband, Andy Anderson; one son, Michael Anderson of Nashville, Tenn.; two grandsons, Thomas and Robbie Anderson of Nashville Tenn.; four sisters, Marie Newman of Hernando, Priscilla Fleming and Mary Shook of Booneville and Edna Lanier of Meridian; and three brothers, Robert, William and Charles Cooper, all of Baldwyn.

JEWELL ANDERSON

Jewell Banks Anderson, 89, died Sunday, March 21, 2004, in Winfield, Ala. She was born July 17, 1914, in Lamar County, Ala., to the late John and Myrtle Harrison Brown. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church of Shawnee, Okla.

Private graveside services were Thursday, March 25, 2004, in Taylor Springs Cemetery in Sulligent, Ala. Otts Funeral Home of Sulligent was in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include two

sons, Dale C. Anderson of Winfield, Ala., and Russell J. Anderson and wife, Janice, of Jacksonville, N. C.; two grandchildren, Julie Ree Anderson and Jackie Joe Anderson; two sisters, Exie Alexander of Belmont and Tollie Mathis of Miami, Okla.; two brothers, Roger Brown of Vina, Ala., and Harrison Brown of Huntsville, Ala.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Joe T. Anderson; and three brothers, Odis Brown, Guy Brown and Prentiss Brown.

JIMMIE ANDERSON

BOONEVILLE - Jimmie Lee Turner Anderson, of Dry Creek, died Friday, March 25, 2005, at he daughter's home near Walnut after an extended illness. She was a homemaker whose family was her life.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at the McMillan Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Ed McCafferty officiating. Burial will be in the Concord Cemetery.

Survivors include five daughters, Zane Heavener and husband, D.C., and Bobbye Meeks, all of Walnut, Treva Moore and husband, Van, of Ripley, and Brenda Noel and Linda Tigrett and husband, Billy, all of Dry Creek; one son, Glenn Anderson and wife, Shirley, of Somerville, Tenn.; two daughters-in-law, Betty Anderson of Memphis and Judy Anderson of Blackland; 10 grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildern and three great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Euclid Murry Anderson; one daughter, Wanda Jean Bullock, and two sons, James Monroe Anderson and Jerry Turner Anderson.

Pallbearers will be Jesse Armstrong, Lee Anderson, John Warmath, Nathan Warmath, Lionel Heavener, David Meeks, Anthony Tigrett, Christopher Tigrett and Harv Heavener.

BOONEVILLE - Pearl Anderson, 75, died Tuesday, June 1, 2004, at his home in Booneville. He was a member of Oak Hill M.B. Church in Booneville.

BOB ANDERSON

Robert Howell "Bob" Anderson, 61, died Saturday, Aug. 12, 2000, at his home near Booneville, following a long illness.

He was born Dec. 8, 1938, in Tippah County, the son of Baxter Lee Anderson and Virginia Bell Wallis Anderson. He worked as a salesman for Alliant Food Services for 21 years, attaining recognition as the number one salesman for the company many times. He was a member of Martin Hill Free Will Baptist Church. He was a history buff, with particular interest in the Civil War and Brice's Crossroads.

Services were Sunday, Aug. 13, at 4 p.m. at Booneville Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Rick Bowling, Bro. Steve Lampkin and Bro, Don Dail officiating. Burial was in Martin Hill Cemetery.

He is survived by his wife, Laverne Honeycutt Anderson, whom he .married June 28, 1984; a daughter, Dedy Anderson‑Rainey of Ft. Myers, Ra.; four sons, Richard Anderson and his wife, Karen, of Tupelo Mark Anderson and his wife, Melinda, of Jumpertown, Joey Anderson of Tupelo and Andy Anderson of Booneville; a stepdaughter, Tammy Faulkner and her husband, Tim, of Booneville; two stepsons, Scottie Thompson and his wife, Teresa, of Rienzi, and Marty Thompson of Booneville; three sisters, Lorene Floyd of Biloxi, Kate Abraham of Leland, Miss., and Marjorie Lampkin of Baldwyn; and nine grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Ruben Greer, Jerry Bost, Bennett Bernard, Larry Marshall, Randle Coleman, Butch Arledge, John Ligon and Bobby Simmons.

SANDRA ANDERSON

Sandra Stutts Anderson, 56, of Booneville, died Saturday, Feb. 7, 2004, at the Methodist University Hospital in Memphis after an extended illness.

Mrs. Anderson was a homemaker and a volunteer at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Booneville. She was preceded in death by one sister, Belinda Ward, father John Howard Stuffs and her mother, Nancy Noralee Ward.

Services were Tuesday, Feb. 10, at 1 p.m. at McMillan Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Kenny Bruce officiating. Burial was in Gaston-Cemetery.

She is survived by one daughter, Jennifer Arnold and her husband, Mark, of Booneville; one son, Jon Anderson and his wife, Kori, of Atlanta; three sisters, Nancy Rogers and Donna Oxford, both of Fort Collins, Colo., and Tammi Montoya of Fort Lupton, Colo.; and three grandchildren, C. J. Arnold, Jonn Austin Anderson and Zachary Bryant Anderson.

SUSIE ANDERSON

BALDWYN - Susie Mae Copeland Anderson died Saturday, April 9, 2005, at the North Mississippi Medical Center. She was born Aug. 11, 1920, the daughter of the late Reb and Ethel Scales and the late James Copeland. She joined Sandhill M.B. Church. After moving to Chicago, she joined Greater Galilee M.B. Church. In Chicago she married Charles W. Anderson, who preceded her in death. After returning to Baldwyn, she rejoined Sandhill M.B. Church. She gave of herself wherever she was needed.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Sandhill M.B. Church with the Rev. Lincoln Bradley officiating. Burial will be in Sandhill Cemetery. Agnew and Sons Funeral Home of Baldwyn is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include a daughter, Charlene Anderson of Baldwyn; two sons, Hershall Copeland of Baldwyn and Jack (Nicole) Reed of Chicago; five grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Reed and Martha Edwards, both of Chicago; one brother, Prentiss Copeland of Chicago; an aunt, nieces, nephews, a great-nephew, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Eliza Betts; three brothers, James W. Copeland, Lewis Scales and Billy Scales; and one niece.

VERA ANDERSON

CORINTH - Vera Swinford Anderson, 92, died at her home. She was a former resident of El Paso, Texas, moving to Corinth seven years ago. She was a homemaker and a Catholic. She was the widow of Walter Anderson.

A memorial service will be held in El Paso, Texas, at a later date. Memorial Funeral Home of Corinth is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include a son, Oscar Reyes of El Paso, Texas; a brother, Fagin Swinford of Arkansas; three sisters, Leona Brock and Nancy Roberts of Corinth, and Janie Martin of New Mexico.

CORINTH - Mary Virginia LaGarde Keaton Anderson, 90, died Sunday, May 4, 2003, at her home. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and a kindergarten teacher for 26 years. She was one of the founding matriarchs of Magnolia Funeral Home. She was a member of the Four Seasons Garden Club and active in church and community projects.

She was preceded in death by her first husband and father of her children, Edwin Russel Keaton; her second husband, James Hal Anderson; her parents, Edward Watkins LaGarde and Lilia Milam LaGarde; a sister, Lillie Mae LaGarde; an uncle, Eugene Milam; and an aunt, Troy Milam McComb.

WESLEY MILTON ANDERSON

BOONEVILLE ‑ Wesley Milton Anderson, 79, died Thursday, Jan. 13, 2000, at his daughter's home in Oxford. He was born Aug. 20, 1920, in Wheeler. He retired as a Chief Warrant Officer with 21 years service in the U. S. Air Force and managed the Booneville Grain Company following his military service. He was a member of Wheeler Methodist Church.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at McMillan Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. J. A. Thornton officiating. Burial will be in the Booneville Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Opal Carpenter Anderson; one daughter. Kathy Lamb, and her husband, Russell, of Oxford; two grandsons, Kevin and Kristopher Smith of Oxford; a granddaughter, Lynda Smith of Oxford; two step grandchildren, Kelly and Kristen Lamb of Oxford; one brother, W. Clarence Anderson of Memphis; one sister, Ruby Davis of Forest City, N. C.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Robert E. Anderson, Joe Forrest Anderson and Earl Anderson.

BILL ANDERSON

CORINTH - William Logan "Bill" Anderson, 83, died Saturday, Feb. 19, 2005, at his home. A native and lifelong resident of Corinth, he was born Jan. 11, 1922, to the late Farmer Franklin Anderson Sr. and Bessie Wilson Anderson. He was a 1939 graduate of Corinth High School and attended Union University where he was a member of the S.A.E. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving in the 163rd Engineering Combat Battalion. He owned and operated Anderson Building Supply Company for several years. He retired after 21 years with the personnel department of the Wurlitzer Co. He was a member of the First Baptist church where he served as Deacon, and was an active member of the choir for more than 60 years. He taught the first and second grade Sunday School class for 44 years.

Services will be at 3 p.m. today at the First Baptist Church with the Rev. Dennis Smith and the Rev. Jim Yates officiating. Burial will be in the Henry Cemetery. McPeters Funeral Home of Corinth is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include two daughters, Kathy A. Irvin and husband, Tom, of Pinehurst, N.C., and Karen A. Timmons and husband, Danny, of Corinth; five grandchildren, Elizabeth Whitney Irvin, Thomas Clayton Irvin, William Jackson Irvin, Anderson Hunter Timmons and Kathryn Gatewood Timmons.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Frances Smith and Farmer F. Anderson Jr.

DELIA FRANCIS ANDREWS

Delia Francis Andrews, 84, of Corinth, died Monday, June 12, 2000 at the Magnolia Regional Health Center.  She was a member of Clinton West Side Pentecostal Holiness Church, Clinton, Okla.  She loved her family and friends and enjoyed attending church, gardening and camping out.

Mrs. Andrews was preceded in death by her father, Jim McDaniels; her mother, Myrtle Jordan McDaniels; husband John Elvis Andrews; daughter, Johnnie Francis Dennington; sister, Katherine McDaniels.

She is survived by one daughter, Carol Moore and her husband Rev. Wray of Corinth, MS;  5 grandchildren, Danny Moore and his wife Debbie, Rita Craddock, Sally Ransom, Laura Craddock, Nathan Moore, Tyler Moore, John Andrew Waldon, Whitney Waldon, Cody Lane Moore; 3 great grandchildren, shelly Ransom, Michael Ransom, Geneva Ransom.

HUBERT ANGLIN

TISHOMINGO - Hubert Anglin, 87, died Thursday, May 20, 2004, at his home. He was a 55-year member of Tishomingo Baptist Church, where he was a deacon and Sunday school teacher. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, serving in the SeaBees. He was a mechanic at Blue Bell Manufacturing, a Civil Defense director for Tishomingo County and a mail carrier. He was a Master Mason for 55 years.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Tishomingo Baptist Church with Bro. Robby Don Crane and Bro. Billy Burge officiating. Burial will be in Bethlehem Cemetery. Cutshall Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include a special friend and companion, Betty Quillen; a son, Phillip and Nancy Anglin of Tulsa, Okla.; a daughter, Jennifer and Patrick Foret of Tishomingo; a brother, Wendell Anglin of Iuka; a sister, Geraldine Walden of Jackson; four grandchildren, Myra Leary, Michelle Brown, Kacey Phifer and Kalah Smith; five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Lois Burns Anglin; his parents, Huey and Evie Anglin; and a brother, Wayburn Anglin.

BALDWYN - Julius Anglin, 81, died Friday, May 28, 2004, at his residence after an extended illness. He retired from Day-Brite Lighting in Tupelo after working there for 30 years. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and a member of Baldwyn First Baptist Church.

Services will be at 3: 30 p.m. at Waters Funeral Home with Dr. Gayle Alexander officiating. Burial will be in the Prentiss Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret Murphy Anglin of Baldwyn; one stepson, Ronnie Moore and wife, Ruby, of Baldwyn; one sister, Ruby Mears and husband, Oneal, of Baldwyn; his brother-in-law, Earl Adams; two grandsons, Stephen Moore and William Moore.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Effie Boxx Anglin; and one sister, Cleo Adams.

WALLACE ANGLIN

IUKA - Wallace Eural Anglin, 71, died Wednesday, Sept. 29, 2004, at the Iuka Hospital.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Ludlam Funeral Home Chapel in Iuka with Minister Lance Foster officiating. Burial will be in New Prospect Cemetery in Iuka.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce Anglin of Iuka; two daughters, Bonita Joy "B. J." Kurtz and husband, Rod, of Norwich, Conn., and Brenda Jane "Janie" Anglin of Iuka; a brother, Lawayne Anglin and wife, Juanette, of Iuka; five sisters, Martha Sue Terry and husband, Bill, of Tishomingo, Barbara Faye Lambert and husband, J. WENDELL ANGLIN

IUKA - Wendell Anglin, 84, died Friday, July 2, 2004, at the Iuka Hospital. He was a member of the Harmony United Methodist Church. He was a U. S. Army veteran of World War II, during which he served as a paratrooper in both the Army 101st and 82nd Airborne divisions. He was a truck driver for Ryder Truck Lines in Memphis for 28 years and was a former board member of the Harmony Central Water Board.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at the Harmony United Methodist Church with the Rev. Wayne Napier officiating. Burial will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery. Cutshall Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include his wife, Virginia "Ginny" Anglin of Iuka; one sister, Geraldine Walden of Jackson; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Huey and Eva Anglin; and two brothers, Wayburn and Hubert Anglin.

WILLA DEANIE APPLEGATE

ALVIN, Texas - Willa Deanie Applegate, 71, died Friday, Dec. 19, 2003, at the Jonesboro Methodist Hospital. She was born Jan. 26, 1932, in Booneville to William E. Pace and Flora Worley. She was a homemaker and a Pentecostal.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Holly Springs Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Byhalia Cemetery.

Survivors include two sons, Everett Applegate of Alvin, Texas, and Dennis Applegate of Kansas; three daughters, Flora Boatman of Caraway, Ark., Bertha Harvey of Port Lavaca, Texas, and Kathy Ashford of Colorado; two sisters, Lodina Chaney of Cleveland and Christine Wilkerson of Byhalia; 18 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

BOONEVILLE ‑ Jim Archer, 80, of Booneville, died unexpectedly Sunday, Dec. 1, 2002, at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. He was re tired as Prentiss County 4‑H Agent and had been the minister for the Brie* down Church of Christ for 46 years. He was a well known beekeeper and supplier in Northeast Mississippi and served as President of the North Mississippi Beekeepers' Association. He was a U. S. Lema W. Armstrong, 81, of Rienzi, died Thursday, May 22, 1997, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Booneville after an extended illness.

Mrs. Armstrong was a housewife and a member of Jacinto Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by two daughters, Nelda Grace Armstrong and Dorothy Fay Armstrong.

Ruby Armstrong, 72, died Thursday, March 4, 2004, at the ECM Hospital. She was a native of Alabama and a supervisor at the Red Bay Hospital Cafeteria for 32 years.

Will Lee (Bill) Armstrong, 76, of Caddo Mills, Texas, died Monday, Dec. 11, 2000.

Mr. Armstrong was born in Baldwyn July 20, 1924, the son of James Franklin Armstrong and Donnie Alma Speck Armstrong.

George Ellis Arnold, widely known landowner of Frankstown, was killed instantly at, 3:30 p.m., Wednesday, December 26 in a three vehicle traffic accident on Highway 45, near his home. He was 76. IUKA - Jackie R. Arnold, 53, died Sunday, June 29, 2003, at the DeKalb Baptist Medical Center in Fort Payne, Ala. He was a resident of Fort Payne, Ala., and a former resident of Iuka. He was a deacon and member of New Salem Baptist Church in Iuka. He was a graduate of Westwood High School in Memphis and Northeast Mississippi Community College in Booneville. For 18 years he was employed as a graphic illustrator with Heil Environmental, working at both the Tishomingo and the Fort Payne plants. He was a U. S. Air Force veteran. He enjoyed woodcarving, painting, drawing and spending time with his granddaughter.

BOONEVILLE - Jewel Jumper Arnold, 87, died Thursday, May 14 1998, at Booneville Baptist Hospitai after a long illness. She was a retired nurse’s aide for the Northeast Mississippi Hospital and a member of Concord Baptist Church. She enjoyed gardening, fishing and quilting.

COL. JOHNNIE ARNOLD

BALDWYN - Col. Johnnie John Robert Arnold died Tuesday, June 21, 2005, at the Baldwyn Nursing Facility. He was born Sept. 10, 1918, in Baldwyn to Fred and Myrtle Grissom Arnold. He graduated from Baldwyn High School, attended Georgia Tech and graduated from Mississippi State University with a degree in electrical engineering.

He entered active military service on June 11, 1942, as a second lieutenant. He made the Normandy landing and served in the battles of Northern France, Ardennes and Rhineland in Central Europe, serving in the U.S. Army's Signal Corps. He was awarded the Soldier's Medal for Heroism on Aug. 2, 1944, near St. Lo, France. He also received the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal for participation in the Philippine liberation. He later served in the National Guard, retiring May 26, 1970, with the rank of colonel. He was the author of the published book "Johnnie's War."

He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Baldwyn, where he served for a number of years as a Sunday School teacher and as a member of the Board of Deacons. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and a member of the Scottish Rites. Until his health prevented, he was a member of the Board of Directors of the Farmers and Merchants Bank. He was a merchant, a restaurant owner, a farmer, a hunter and a fisherman.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. today at Waters Funeral Home in Baldwyn with Dr. Gayle Alexander officiating. A military burial service will follow at the Baldwyn Masonic Cemetery.

Joseph Acker Arnold died, 65, Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. as a result of an accident near Baldwyn.

Arnold was operating a road grader for the county when he was apparently thrown from the vehicle which then ran over him.

Services for the 65 year-old Frankstown resident were held at 1 Friday In the chapel of Jones Funeral Home in Booneville.

Officiating at the services were Rev. Hugh Conwell, with Rev. J. C. Mclntire assisting. Burial followed in the Booneville Cemetery.

Arnold is survived by his wife, Mattie Morrow Arnold of Frankstown a stepson, Roy Neblett two sisters, Mrs. Huge Etting Baldwyn and Mrs. Horace Browning of Booneville; and two grandchildren.

CORINTH - Kie O. Arnold, 74, died Friday, June 11, 2004, at his residence. He was retired from General Motors in Detroit, Mich.

She was born Aug. 30, 1916, in Prentiss County to Frances Alonzo Prather and Onie Vernon Hill Prather. She was a cook, a homemaker and a member of Calvary Baptist Church. TUPELO - Phillip C. Arnold, 54, died Saturday, April 24, 2004, at the Laney Greenhouse at Cedars Health Center. He was born Oct. 9, 1949, to Addie Irene Pinch Arnold and James C. Arnold Sr. At the age of 3 he moved with his family from Saltillo to Iuka, where he lived with his mother until her death in January 1985. He returned to Saltillo to live with his sister, Billie Sue Morgan. He attended the First Baptist Church of Saltillo.

Services will be at 11 a.m. today in the Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with the Rev. Bobby Holland and the Rev. Terri Armstrong officiating. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. at Snowdown Cemetery near Iuka.

Survivors include two sisters, Billie Sue Morgan and Dorothy Fay King of Saltillo; three brothers, Carl "Habo" Arnold of Vermelles, France, Jerrell Arnold of Pittsville, Wis., and Robert Arnold of Iuka; three aunts, three nieces, 11 nephews, many grand and great-grandnieces and grand and great-grandnephews; many cousins, including a special cousin, Doris Lambert of Iuka and friend, John Wayne Paden, of Iuka.

Dorothy McCarley Reynolds Artman, 89, of Grenada, died Friday, May 17, 2002, at Webster General Hospital.

Services were Monday, May 20, at 2 p.m. at Garner-Harper Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Tim Williams officiating. Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery.

Mrs. Artman was a retired floral designer. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Grenada and the Pilot Club. She worked for Grenada Flower Shop and Graber Gas Co. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Duke Reynolds; her second husband, John E. Artman Sr.; and two daughters, Bonnie Reynolds Gibbs and Joan Reynolds Brasfield.

She is survived by two daughters, Frances Reynolds McCarty of Starkville and Kathy Reynolds Hatcher of Booneville; two stepsons, John E. Artman Jr. and Ted Robert Artman, both of Grenada; 14 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

BOONEVILLE - Leland Woodrow Ashcraft, 58, died Monday, Feb. 26 2001, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Booneville after a sudden illness. H was born Nov. 26, 1942, in Prentiss County to Bud and Lerlean Brow Ashcraft. He was a Pentecostal. He was a pulpwood cutter, cotton gin worker and truck driver. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and riding his foul wheeler.

She was bone Aug. 16, 1910, in Rienzi, to John Oscar Brown and Olive Vanderford Brown. She was a homemaker and a member of the First United Pentecostal Church in Booneville. She enjoyed growing flowers, cooking, crocheting, eating out, catalog shopping and having her children visit at her home.

She was preceded in death on Sept. 17, 1963, by her husband of 35 years, Carl J. Ashcraft, whom she married on June 16, 1928; a daughter, Zera Grace Ashcraft; and by six brothers and four sisters.

GOLDEN - Randle E. Ashley, 76, died Monday, March 7, 2005, at the North Mississippi Medical Center. He was born May 22, 1928, in Itawamba County to Wiley and Alice Stephens Ashley. He worked for the Mississippi Forestry Commission for 30 years and for the Itawamba County 1st District for eight years. He was an inactive deacon at Burntfields Baptist Church. He enjoyed gardening, fishing and woodworking.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at McNeece-Morris Funeral Home Chapel in Fulton with Bro. Gene O'Brian, Bro. Jackie Gray and Bro. Robert Humphres officiating. Burial will be in Salem Cemetery.

BALDWYN - Eugene Ashmore, 31, died Sunday, Dec. 15, 2002, at the Baldwyn Nursing Facility. He was born Oct. 15, 1921. He was a retired employee of the Brown Shoe Company and a U. S. Air Force veteran of World War II. He was a member of Ingram Baptist Church, where he was a deacon and a Sunday school teacher.

Services were held Monday, December 16 at Waters Funeral Home with Bro. Wallace Pannell and Dr. Carl Weeden officiating. Burial was in Prentiss Memorial Gardens.

BOONEVILLE - James Wesley "J. W." Ashmore, 80, died Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2003, at his home. He owned and operated Ashmore's Gulf Service Station in Booneville for several years. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and a U. S. Army veteran of World War II. He enjoyed his martins and being with his grandchildren.

IUKA - Florence Atkins, 93, died Thursday, Oct. 9, 2003, at her home. She regularly attended Iuka Pentecostal Church. She enjoyed gospel music, flowers and spending time with her grandchildren.

Hester Ruth Rushing Austin, 88, died Wednesday, May 31, 2000, at the Park Rest Nursing Home in Savannah, Tenn.

Services were Friday. June 2, at 1 p.m. at Mount Hermon Baptist Church near Savannah, Tenn. Burial was in Mount Hermon Cemetery. Shackelford Funeral Directors of Savannah, Tenn., was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Austin was born in Booneville and had lived in Hardin County, Tenn., for over 68 years. She was a member of Mount Hermon Baptist Church and a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Dewey Austin.

She is survived by two daughters, Monette Smith and Martha Crofts, both of Savannah, Tenn.; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two great‑great‑grandchildren.

BOONEVILLE - Mary Leona Ware Austin, 61, died Saturday, May 31, 2003, at her home after an extended illness. She was a member of the Church of God and worked for 30 years at Marathon Cheese in Booneville.

Survivors include her husband, Willie Lee Austin; her mother, Velma Lucille Studdard of Corinth; her stepmother, Alice Ware of Corinth; three daughters, Patricia Driskell and her husband, Bill Jr., of Michie, Tenn., Wanda Studdard and her husband, Jimmy Sr., and Linda Flanagan and her husband, Ray Sr., all of Cairo; one son, William Ray Austin and his wife, Greta, of Baldwyn; one sister, Georgia Tucker of Cairo; three brothers, Johnny Stewart of Rienzi, James Ware of Walnut and Tim Ware of Memphis; 12 grandchildren, Sylvia Wouldridge, Crystal Driskell, Ray Flanagan Jr., Sharon Arnold, Starr Driskell, Ray Austin Jr., Sonya Flanagan, Bill Driskell III, Jimmy Studdard Jr., Brooke Austin, Kim Pannell and CarLee Pannell; five great-grandchildren, Dalton Arnold, Blake Wouldridge, Faith Arnold, Grace Flanagan and Emilie Flanagan.

She was preceded in death by her father, T. C. "Buster" Ware; an infant son, Kenneth Wayne Austin; two sisters, June Cooper and Carol Sprinkle; and a brother, Jerry Warren Stewart.

Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. today at the funeral home and continue until service time Monday.

NANCY AUSTIN

CORINTH - Nancy L. Austin, 59, died Monday, June 13, 2005, at the Magnolia Regional Health Center after a long illness. She was a homemaker and a member of Prospect Baptist Church.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at McMillan Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Johnny Hamblin officiating. Burial will be in Prospect Cemetery.

Survivors include her husband, Lester Austin; a daughter, Rhonda Renee Callaway and husband, William, of Indianapolis, Ind.; two sons, Buford Scott Bryant and wife, Carol, and Danny Alan Bryant and fiancee, Shena, all of Corinth; a sister, Bonnie Jewel Stone of Corinth; four brothers, Frankie Stone of Tishomingo, Joe Stone of Corinth, Jimmy Harp of Booneville and Tommy Harp of Wheeler; six grandchildren, Clayton Payne, Natalie Bryant, Brandon Bryant, Autumn Bryant, Ethan Bryant and Sydney Bryant.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jim and Bessie Thompson Stone, and a daughter, Gail Bryant.

Visitation will begin at noon Tuesday.

TIM AUSTIN

CORINTH - Thomas T. "Tim" Austin, 80, died Saturday, July 23, 2005, at the Magnolia Regional Health Center. He was a member of Tate Baptist Church. He worked for Conley Supply Company for 30 years and in recent years he was an apartment manager and a self-employed home repairman. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He enjoyed traveling with his wife, bowling, attending church and working.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Magnolia Funeral Home Chapel of Memories with Dr. Gregg Thomas, Bro. Tommy Leatherwood and Jack Stewart officiating. Burial will be in the Henry Cemetery with military honors.

Survivors include his wife, Helen Austin of Corinth; three daughters, Trish Briggs and husband, Frankie, of Adamsville, Tenn., Rosemary Dawson of Whitehouse, Tenn., and Myra Willis and husband, Mike, of Corinth; one son, Vic Austin and wife, Gina, of Brighton, Tenn.; his grandchildren, Rachel Briggs, Adam Briggs and wife, Stacy, of Adamsville, Tenn., Mandy Corbin and husband, Shannon, of Corinth, Corey Keltner of Knoxville, Tenn., Haley Willis of Knoxville, Tenn., Jacob Willis of Corinth, Caroline Austin, Savannah Austin, Lee Peyton, all of Brighton, Tenn.; his great-grandchildren, Katie Beth Corbin and Riley Corbin, both of Corinth, and Julia Nicole Briggs (due in Aug. 2005) of Adamsville; one sister, Eleanor Enlzian and husband, Albert, of Dunkirk, Maryland; his first wife and the mother of his children, Delola Austin of Corinth.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gail W. Austin and Nellie E. Austin; his second wife, Barbara Austin; five brothers, Bob, John, Bud, Dick and Charles Austin; one sister, Mary Jane Austin.

Pallbearers will be Adam Briggs, Corey Keltner, Jacob Willis, Lee Peyton, Shannon Corbin and Mike Willis. Honorary pallbearers will be the Loving Learner Class of Tate Baptist Church.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. today and on Monday from 11 a.m. until service time.

Memorials may be made to Tate Baptist Church Building Fund.

WILMA AVERY

CORINTH - Wilma Avery, 96, died Sunday, March 27, 2005, at the Magnolia Regional Health Center. A native of Houlka, she was born July 10, 1908. She had been a resident of Corinth since 1987. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church. She loved the First Baptist Church and was a devout family person who also enjoyed gardening, crocheting and other handwork.

Services will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday at the McPeters Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dennis Smith officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Vernon Cemetery in Memphis.

Survivors include one son, Bill Avery and his wife, Vickie, of Corinth; two grandchildren, Carmen Leigh Parks and Jason Avery; four great-grandchildren, Casey Parks, Avery Parks, Savannah Avery and Meredith Avery.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Milburn D. Avery; Lavera Ticer, Fuqua Ellis and Azalee Brock; and one brother, Marvin Murphree.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

LILA AYERS

CORINTH - Lila Fern Ayers, 76, died Tuesday, July 15, 2003, at Baptist Memorial Hospital East in Memphis. She was a homemaker and a member of Union Baptist Church.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Union Baptist Church with the Rev. Johnny Rakestraw and the Rev. David Robbins officiating. Burial will be in Union Cemetery. Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include her husband, Sulley Ayers of Corinth; a son, Buddy Ayers and wife, Sherolyn, of Corinth; grandchildren, Scott and Geri Benjamin, Brett and Lisa Benjamin, Shawn Robert Ayers and Tara Ayers.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Tishie Rencher; a daughter, Nina Gale Benjamin; and a sister, Elois Marie Elliott.

Pallbearers will be Ladrone Mattox, Ronnie Burt Rencher, Brad Mattox, Johnny Mattox, Jim Benjamin and Jeff Rencher.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today.

SHARLEY AYERS

CORINTH - Sharley Elaine Ayers, 67, died Sunday, June 1, 2003, at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Corinth. She was born May 30, 1935, to Horace and Lavelle Felks Rowsey. She was a retired seamstress for United Pioneer and a member of Community Freewill Baptist Church.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at the Corinthian Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ray Willis and the Rev. Raymond Rivers officiating.

Survivors include a stepson, Charles Howie Jr. and wife, Becky, of Corinth; three daughters, Marcia Mauney and husband, Tommy, Bonita Johnston and husband, Jim, and Paula Parvin and fiance, Allen, all of Corinth; a stepdaughter, Kay Duncan and husband, Danny, of Corinth; a brother, Garry Rowsey of Counce, Tenn.; a sister, Sybil Matlock and Betty Wood, all of Corinth; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be grandsons and sons-in-law, Clint Mauney, Billy Smith, Zachery Johnston, Luke Wilbanks, Matt Johnston and Cody Johnston.
