Mr. Dobbins was an avid golfer who loved family history and was a certified genealogical record researcher. He was a member of the National Rifle Association, but he put his guns away after heart surgery in 1998.

Mrs. Doty was a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church at Carolina and was laid to rest in the cemetery, the pastor of that church conducted the funeral service.

He loved collecting antiques, especially cars and trucks.

Since it opened in 1984, the museum has drawn thousands of students each year on class tours, and Dunn was particularly interested in children and in teaching them local history.
A native of
He received honors for his civic contributions from the Sons of the American Revolution and from the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Dunn approached
The museum opened in 1984, and has grown into an extensive complex, with the largest and most diverse collections in the state. Until the day he entered the hospital, Dunn continued to work at the museum - leading tours, enlisting volunteers, designing displays, and planning new exhibits.
'Dudie's Diner, a landmark from Crosstown, was one of the most -recent acquisitions to be opened to the public. In his latest project, Dunn was negotiating to bring an antique cotton press to the museum grounds.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Lowise Winfield Dyess, a native of Booneville; six children, Cammie and Jack Mercer of Cincinnati, Ohio, Brenda and Joe Sterling of Nashville, Tenn., Bud Dyess of Montgomery, Ala., Bill and Ginger Dyess of Pensacola, Fla., David and Kristi Dyess of Montgomery, Ala., and Patricia Randall of Florida; 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to St. Marks United Methodist Church Building Fund.

Dyson and wife, Joyce, of Amarillo, Texas, and Billy Wayne Dyson and wife, Doris, of Corinth; two sisters, Lila Poindexter of Glen and Ada Lee Jones of Corinth; two grandchildren, Hope McDonald of Manning, S.C., and husband, Sr. Chief Petty Officer Mark McDonald, serving in Iraq, and Rachel Sobota and husband, Steve, of Cordova, Tenn.; two great-grandchildren, Megan McDonald and Noah Mc Donald.
He was preceded in death by his
