NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - Ewell Johns, 69, died Saturday, Dec. 6, 2003, at St. Vincent Special Care in Little Rock, Ark. He was a member of New Life Church in Scott, Ark., and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Cutshall Funeral Home Chapel in Iuka. Burial will be in the Tishomingo Cemetery.

Survivors include a daughter, Deborah Womack of Bartlett, Tenn.; a stepdaughter, Leann Wickliffe of Jacksonville, Ark.; a sister, Glendale Burns of Olive Brandh; a grandchild, Eli Womack of Bartlett, Tenn.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Kramer Johns.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to service time Monday at the funeral home.

RUTH JOHNS

GLEN - Ruth Sutton Johns, 78, died Thursday, June 19, 2003, at Magnolia Regional Health Center in Corinth. She was born April 16, 1925, in White Bluff, Tenn., to the late Clyde and Viola Sutton. She was a homemaker and a Baptist. She enjoyed flowers and caring for others.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at McPeters Funeral Home Chapel with Elder Cecil Woodruff officiating. Burial will be in Johns Cemetery.

Survivors include two sons, Tommy Johns of Corinth, and Donald Johns and wife, Donna, of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; two daughters, Rita Lowery and husband, James, and Teresa Campbell and husband, Bill, all of Glen; five grandchildren, Christy Moore and husband, Jermey, Shannon Palmer and husband, Bradley, Joshua Johns, Sheena Campbell and Nathan Johns.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Johns; her parents, Clyde and Viola Sutton; and several brothers and sisters.

EDNA PEARL JOHNSEY

Edna Pearl Johnsey, 81, formerly of Rienzi, died Saturday, Aug. 5, 1995, at the Heritage Manor Nursing Home in Corinth.

Services were Monday, Aug. 7 at 11 a.m. at Coleman Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Randy Rinehart officiating. Burial was in Forrest Mentioned Park Cemetery.

Mrs. Joinery was the widow of Vera James Johnsey. She was a Baptist.

She is survived by three sons, Norman Johnsey and Keith Johnsey, both of Rienzi, and Bert Johnsey of Cordova, Tenn., two daughters. Janie Edmonds of Hueytown, Ala., and Sylvia Austin of Corinth, three brothers, Otis Rinehart of Memphis, Raymond Rinehart of Batesville and Fray Rinehart of Rienzi, lied sisters, Ruth Clark of Biloxi and Ester Doyle of Rienzi; eight grandchildren and one great‑grandchild.

NEW SITE - Abner Flavil "A.F" Johnson, 87, died Monday, Oct. 13, 2003, at his home. He was a retired farmer, maintenance worker for the Natchez Trace and school bus driver. He was a member of Siloam United Methodist Church and a U. S. Army veteran of World War II. He enjoyed fishing, and squirrel and coon hunting. He was the son of the late Cleve and Annie Crowson Johnson.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Siloam United Methodist Church with Bro. Charles McGill and Bro. Jimmy Glover officiating. Burial will be in Siloam Cemetery. McMillan Funeral Home of Booneville is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Mable Edwards Johnson; three daughters, Carolyn Taylor and husband, Benny, and Judy Stutts and husband, Wayne, all of New Site, and Debra Searcy and husband, Jackie, of Columbus; two sons, Clifford F. "Bo" Johnson and wife, Lisa, of Booneville and Stanley Wayne Johnson and wife, Vonda Kay, of New Site; a sister, Mary Faye Jackson of Booneville; two brothers, T. J. Johnson and wife, Gretchen, of New Site, and Eulas Ray Johnson of Florence, Ala.; nine grandchildren, Doug Taylor, Rod Taylor, David Johnson, Paul Johnson, Anthony Searcy, Jacquilin Deaton, Morgan Johnson, Daniel Stutts and Hannah Johnson; nine great-grandchildren.

His grandsons and Tony Deaton will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation will continue until noon today at the funeral home. The body will lie in state at the church one hour before services.

AGNES JOHNSON

BOONEVILLE - Agnes Marie Johnson, 74, died Saturday, Dec. 20, 2003, at Longwood Community Living Center in Booneville after several years of failing health. She was born June 4, 1929, in Phil Campbell, Ala., to Lumpkin and Anne Holland Johnson. She lived for about 40 years in a board and care home in Stockton, Calif., and returned to Booneville in April 2001 to live with Clois and Estelle Wright. She was a member of the Church of Christ.

Services will be at 11 a.m. today at the Booneville Funeral Home Chapel with Minister Grant Caldwell officiating. Burial will be in Phil Campbell Cemetery in Phil Campbell, Ala.

Survivors include her caregivers, Clois and Estelle Wright of Booneville; three nieces and nine nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; seven brothers, Dewey, Curtis, Conard, Alonzo, Hershel, James, Ray and Edwin Johnson; and a sister, Willie Mae Johnson Yarber.

Pallbearers will be Chester Davis, Tompall Wright, Charles Milam, John Ferrell, Jimmy Wright, Dan Wilson and Clois Wright.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Longwood Community Living Center.

ANSEL JOHNSON

CORINTH - Ansel Johnson, 74, died Wednesday, July 7, 2004, at the Magnolia Regional Health Center. He was born April 1, 1930, in Collierville, Tenn. He lived in Corinth most of his life. He worked at Corinth Brick and Tile for 27 years and retired from Outdoors Communications Inc. after 20 years. He was a member of Oakland Baptist Church and a past Master of the Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed traveling; his dogs, Rebel, Dixie, Lisa and Princess; and riding with Princess in a golf cart picking up neighborhood children and giving them a ride.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at McPeters Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Randy Bostick and Dr. Leonard Pratt officiating. Burial will be in Corinth City Cemetery with Masonic rites.

Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Joyce Ann Briggs Johnson of Corinth; a stepson, David Cochran and wife, Libby, of Raleigh, N. C.; two stepdaughters, Debbie Robinson and husband, Bill, of Meridian, and Dianne Burcham and husband, Mike, of Guys, Tenn.; two brothers, Amon R. Johnson and wife, Dorothy, of Tuscumbia, Ala., and Andy Charles Johnson and wife, Gloria, of Purcellville, Ala.; three grandchildren, Steve Huggins and Waverley Cochran of Raleigh, N. C., and Ashley Burcham of Guys, Tenn.; several nieces, nephews and cousins; a sister-in-law, Linda Roberts and husband, Larry, of Corinth.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Andy Johnson and Eda Hale Johnson.

ARLEN JOHNSON

RIENZI - Arlen Walker Johnson, 85, died Friday, July 8, 2005, after a brief illness. He was born March 15, 1920. He attended Smith Chapel Freewill Baptist Church. He was a veteran of World War II, attaining the rank of staff sergeant. After returning from the war, he joined the CCC program. Later he was employed by the U.S. Postal Service as a rural letter carrier for 36 years. He enjoyed gardening, fishing and devoting time to his family. He was a loving husband for 63 years.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at McMillan Funeral Home with Bro. Danny Short officiating. Burial will be in Forrest Memorial Park.

Survivors include his wife, Estelle Thompson Johnson; a son, Billy Arlen Johnson and wife, Sandie, of Rienzi; two sisters, Dorothy Palmer of Rienzi and Inez Mills of Biggersville; a brother, Guy Johnson of Rienzi; two grandchildren, Mark Arlen Johnson and Amy Robinson; four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Gladys Johnson, and four brothers, Orville, Dennis, Herman and Manuel Johnson.

AVIS BEE JOHNSON

Avis Bee Johnson, 76, of Florence, Ala., died Sunday, March 21, 1999, after a brief illness.

Services were Tuesday, March 23, at 1 p.m. at Spry Funeral Home in Florence with the Rev. Mike Stonebreaker and the Rev. Edd Lawrence officiating. Entombment was in Tn-Cities Mausoleum.

Mrs. Johnson was born Feb. 22, 1923, in Prentiss County and had resided in Florence since 1948. She was a member of Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church of Florence. She was a Christian and devoted wife and mother. She was preceded in death by her parents, Emma Lou Bearden and Willie Eddie Horn; brothers, Leland Horn, James Hannon Home and Fred Horn; and sisters, Willie Mae Moreland, Mattie Bell Barnes and Ann Holley.

She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Eulas Ray (E. R.) Johnson of Florence; four daughters, Jimmie Kelsoe and her husband, Jerry, Sandra Pitts and her husband, Ronald (Ronnie), and Pam Green, all of Florence, and Patsy Lawrence and her husband, Edd, of Como. a sister, Katie Green of Booneville; two brothers, Bobby Horn of Booneville and Billy Home of Oakland; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren, 18 nephews and 21 nieces.

Her grandsons and sons-in-law were pallbearers.

Beatrice L. Johnson, 85, of Booneville, died Wednesday, March 21, 2001, at the Alcorn Care Inn after a lengthy illness.

Services were Friday, March 23, at 1 p.m. at Jacinto Church of Christ with Minister Terry Roberts officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. McMillan Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Johnson was a member of Jacinto Church of Christ and a retired factory worker, having worked at Garan in Corinth and Prentiss Manufacturing in Booneville. She was born in Prentiss County to the late Billy Fate and Martha "Mattie" Johnson Lambert.

She is survived by two sons, Joseph D. Johnson and his wife, Tiny, and Troy L. Johnson and his wife, Venus, all of Booneville, two sisters, Donnie Jones of Booneville and Ilene Bain of Biggersville; one brother, Grover Lambert of Booneville; two granddaughters, Pam Harris and her husband, Jackie, and Penny Stephens and her husband, Tony; three great-grandchildren, Leah Harris, Jill Harris and Carlen Stephens.

She was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.

Pallbearers were Don Lambert, Hoyle Lambert, Tommy Taylor, Doyle Taylor, Tony Stephens and Jackie Harris.

BOONEVILLE - Bertha Ediston Johnson, 88, died Friday, May 10, 1996, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Booneville. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Eugene Vardaman Johnson. She was a retired homemaker and a resident of the Longwood Manor for the past several years.

CHARLES H. JOHNSON JR.

Charles H. Johnson Jr., 75, of Memphis, died Sunday, Dec. 2, 2001, at Baptist Hospital in Memphis.

Services were Wednesday, Dec. 5, at 10 a.m. at Highland Heights Presbyterian Church. A committal service was held at Little Brown Free Will Baptist Church in the New Site community at 3 p.m. Wednesday. Burial was in Little Brown Cemetery. Corinthian Funeral Home was in charge of local arrangements.

Mr. Johnson was a World War II veteran, a member of Highland Heights Presbyterian Church in Memphis and a deacon, elder and Sunday School superintendent combined 30 years. He was a retired employee of Witco Company where he was in quality control.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Sarah Johnson; two sons, I James Terry Johnson of Memphis and Charles Stuart Johnson of Seaford, Del.; two daughters, Catherine Elizabeth Johnson of El Paso, Texas and Lydia Irene Johnson of Memphis; a sister-in-law, Elizabeth Green of Corinth; and five grandchildren.

CARRIE JOHNSON

Funeral services for Carrie Omie Johnson, 90, of Corinth, were held at 11 a.m. Feb. 29 at Corinthian Funeral Home with the Revs. Benny McKinney and Lowell Johnson officiating. Burial was in Henry Cemetery.

Mrs. Johnson died Sunday, Feb. 27, 2000, at Magnolia Regional Health Center. Born May 24, 1909 to the late Jim and Loutishie Pannel Young, the Prentiss County native was a L.P.N. at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo and a member of the Freewill Baptist faith.

CECIL JOHNSON

IUKA - Cecil Johnson, 81, died Monday, Jan. 31, 2005, at the Iuka Hospital. He was a butcher for 44 years and a meat market manager for Nelson's Supermarket and Piggly Wiggly. He was a member of Harmony United Methodist Church and Iuka Lodge No. 94 F&AM. He had a love for everyone, especially the children in his community, most of whom called him "Papa."

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Harmony United Methodist Church with the Rev. Wayne Napier and the Rev. Dwain Whitehurst officiating. Burial will be in Harmony Cemetery. Cutshall Funeral Home of Iuka is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Christine Bullard Johnson of Iuka; a sister, Arnell Lambert of Iuka.

He was preceded in death by a son, Gene Johnson; his parents, Ed and Lona Johnson; a brother, James Clyde Johnson; and two sisters, Ruby Letchworth and Ora Mae Johnson.

BOONEVILLE - Daniel Wallace Johnson, 61, died Monday, Feb. 12, 2001, at the North Mississippi Medical Center after a long illness. He was born June 19, 1939, to Earl and Ernie Bell Smith Johnson. He worked as an auto parts counter salesman until his retirement in 1993. He served eight years in the National Guard. Until his health failed, he was a member and active deacon at Tuscumbia Baptist Church, where he was in charge of the Jail Devotion Program for many years. He was devoted to his family and church.

Services will be at 3 p.m. today at the Tuscumbia Baptist Church in Booneville with Bro. Jason Pilcher and Bro. Earl Owens officiating. Burial will be in the Tuscumbia Cemetery. McMillan Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Dwight Johnson, 64, of Iuka, died Tuesday, June 3, 1997, at Turn-Martin Road in Iuka as a result of an automobile accident.

BOONEVILLE - William Earn Johnson, 91, died Monday, Oct. 2, 1995, at the Magnolia Hospital in Corinth after a long illness. He was a retired farmer and a member of Old Union Baptist Church.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at McMillan Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev, Jerry George and the Rev. Danny Short officiating. Burial will be in Little Brown Cemetery.

ELLEN C. JOHNSON

CORINTH - Ellen Christine Johnson, 69, died Friday, March 26, 2004, at the McNairy County Healthcare Center in Selmer, Tenn. She was a retired nurse and a member of the Church of Christ.

Services will be at 3 p.m. today at the Coleman Family Funeral Home Chapel with Jerry Bates officiating. Burial will be in the Fraley's Chapel Cemetery.

Survivors include one granddaughter, Desiree Briley of Anniston, Ala.; a special friend, Shirley Wilson of Corinth.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Steve and Lela Mae Greer Marlar; and one daughter, Ellen Renea Briley.

ELMER JOHNSON

BALDWYN - Elmer Johnson, 72, died Monday, Oct. 18, 2004, at the Veterans Memorial Hospital in Memphis. He was a U. S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of East Mt. Zion Baptist Church. He was retired from the auto industry.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Waters Funeral Home with Bro. Gerald Cagle and Bro. Kevin Hatfield officiating. Burial will be in the East Mt. Zion Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife, Lena Johnson of Baldwyn; a daughter, Shirley Roberts of Baldwyn; two sons, Richard Johnson and Debbie of Troy, and Bo Johnson and Dawn of Baldwyn; a sister, Juanita Gambell of Buchanan, Ga.; four brothers, Elton "Punk" Johnson of Baldwyn, Max Johnson of Beach Park, Ill., Andy Johnson of Trevor, Wis., and Gerald Johnson of Pontotoc; grandchildren, Breanna Johnson, Kinsey Johnson, Paityn Johnson, Jessie Tyra, Shannon Stacy, Jeffery Roberts, Scott Roberts, Jason Mumlin, Wendy Johnson and Jeremy Johnson; seven great-grandchildren.

IUKA - Emily Sharee Johnson, 16, died Monday, Sept. 29, 1997, as the result of an automobile accident in luka. She was a member of Highland Baptist Church in Tishomingo, where she was a youth teacher. She was a junior at Tishomingo County High School, where she was vice president of Future Business Leaders of America and a member of the Beta Club and the Student Council.

Services will be at 3 p.m. today at Highland Baptist Church with Bro. Ricky Johnson and Bro. Mavous Phifer officiating. Burial will be in Forked Oak Cemetery near Burton. Cutshall Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include her parents, Bro. BOONEVILLE - Essie Velma Johnson, 83, died Friday, Oct. 8, 2004, at her home in Booneville. She was born Aug. 24, 1921, in Prentiss County. She worked at Booneville Cleaners. She was a faithful member of Mt. Olive M. B. Church and a choir member until her health failed.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Mt. Olive M. B. Church in Booneville. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery. Springfield's Chapel of Corinth is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include two daughters, Eva Bullock of Beloit, Wisc., and Glenda Williams (Billy) of Booneville; two sons, Larry Johnson of Rockford, Ill., and Charles Johnson ( Linda) of Marion, Ind.; one sister, Louise Ware (Frank) of Beloit, Wisc.; one brother, Billy Garner of Tampa, Fla.

GOLDEN - Estleen Whitehead Johnson, 60, died Sunday, July 17, 2005, at her home. She was born Dec. 14, 1944, in Burton to the late James Monroe and Alpha South Whitehead. She was a bank teller and an active member of the Fairview Baptist Church. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

DENNIS - Exie Jane Johnson, 80, died Friday, March 28, 2003, at her residence. She was a member of the Red Bay Freewill Baptist Church and a member of the Order of Eastern Star. She was active in the Ladies Auxiliary of the V.F.W. She was the widow of William Hale Johnson, who died in 1995.

Fannie Johnson, 86, of Booneville, died Sunday, May 18, 1997, in Jackson General Hospital in Jackson, Tenn.

Graveside services were Saturday, May 24, at 10 a.m. at Beckley Cemetery with the Rev. Carl Jones officiating. Agnew and Sons Funeral Home of Baldwyn was in charge of arrangements.

She was a member of Beckley Chapel C.M.E. Church.

She is survived by one foster son, Albert Johnson; and one niece, Savannah McGee of Baldwyn.

GEORGE C. JOHNSON

George C. Johnson, 75, of Route 2, Advance, Mo., died Tuesday, April 8, 1986, at his home.

Services were Friday, April 11 at 2 p.m., of Morgar-Funeral Home in Advance with the Revs. Naamon Eaker and Steve Winberry officiating.

Burial was in Morgan Memorial Park.

Mr. Johnson was born Jan. 5, 1911, at Marietta, son of the late William and Mary Denson Johnson. He had retired after 21 years as a machinist for Centry Electric in St. Louis. He was also a farmer and a member of the Brownwood General Baptist Church at Brownwood.

He was first married to Velma Newman. She preceded him in death Sept. 26, 1976.On July 23, 1977, he married Anna Branum. She survives.

Also surviving are three sons, Leon C. Johnson of Poplar Bluff, George C. Johnson Jr. of Dupo, Ill., and James K. Johnson of St. Louis; two step-sons, Orville Branum of Paisley, Ore., and Gean Branum of Tehachapi, Calif. ; two daughters, Mrs. Billie Hiett of Advance and Mrs. Rita Parris of Dellwood, Mo. ; a brother, Tommy Johnson of Booneville; a sister, Mrs. Belle Fuggett of Bloomfield; 16 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

One brother and a half-sister also preceded him in death.

BALDWYN ‑ Gracie P Johnson, 85, died Saturday, Dec. 15, 2001, at the North Mississippi Medical Center. She was a homemaker and a Baptist.

GRADY JOHNSON

CORINTH - Grady "Snake" Johnson, 88, died Friday, July 2, 2004, at the Hardin County General Hospital in Savannah, Tenn. He was born Oct. 13, 1915, in McNairy County, Tenn., to Curtis and Lessie Flanagan Johnson. He was a retired millwright for Kimberly Clark in Memphis. He was a 32nd degree Mason and a Tennessee sergeant-at-arms. He was a U. S. Navy veteran of World War II and a veteran of the Mississippi National Guard. He enjoyed fishing and watching Atlanta Braves baseball.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Corinthian Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Ebenezer Methodist Church Cemetery in Walnut.

Survivors include a daughter, Janice Manker Jourdan and husband, Wendell, of Corinth; a granddaughter, Katie Manker and fiance, Bryon Ginn; a stepgrandson, Zack Jourdan and wife, Jessica; a stepgranddaughter, Layla Jourdan Borden and husband, Matt; a stepgreat-grandson, T. HARLON C. JOHNSON

WHEELER - Harlon C. Johnson, 86, died Sunday, Aug. 10, 2003, at the Landmark Nursing and Rehab Center in Booneville after an extended illness. He was a retired security officer for Booneville Baptist Memorial Hospital and a member of the Fairview Baptist Church. He was a charter member of the Wheeler Booster Club and a member of the Prentiss County Coon Hunters Association. He loved watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren play sports and show horses. He was an avid coon hunter.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at the McMillan Funeral Home with Bro. Terry Hall officiating. Burial will be in the Liberty Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife, Charlene Armstrong Johnson; one daughter, Pat Gray and her husband, Gerald, of Booneville; two sons, Carl Junior Johnson of Booneville and Bobby Johnson and his wife, Betty, of Wheeler; 10 grandchildren, Carol Barnes, Pamela Stroupe, Paula Hughes, Jerry Parker, Diane Johnson, Steven Johnson, Michael Johnson, Christopher Johnson, Lori Manna and Patrick Johnson; 13 great-grandchildren.

HAROLD T. JOHNSON

BOONEVILLE - Harold T. Johnson, 89, died Thursday, Feb. 24, 2005, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Booneville. He was born April 16, 1915, to the late J.B. and Frances Wren Johnson in Moncks Corner, S.C. He was a member of the Christian Church. He lived in various places during a military career which spanned 23 years. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Korean War and was a survivor of the attack on Pearl Harbor. He retired from the Navy as a Chief Petty Officer. He also retired from George Tech University in Atlanta, where he worked in nuclear medicines.

The body was donated to the Department of Anatomy at the University of Mississippi Medical Center.

A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. today at Faith Baptist Church in Hickory Flat with Bro. Larry West officiating.

Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Clara McCauley Johnson, and a brother, Weldon Johnson, of Baltimore, Md.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Geraldine Johnson Spires; and a brother, Keith Johnson.

HERMON G. JOHNSON

CORINTH - Hermon G. Johnson, 59, died Tuesday, March 25, 2003, at his home. He was an employee of LTV Steel in Counce, Tenn., and a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Laverda Ann Johnson of Corinth; two sons, Dwight Johnson and Steve Johnson, both of Corinth; a grandson, Bradley Johnson; three sisters, Pauline Wood and husband, Jimmy, of Michie, Tenn., Loviedeene Davis of Crump, Tenn., and Margie Rickman and husband, Blan, of Corinth; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Eldridge and Leathie Rhoades, and a daughter-in-law, Sabina Johnson.

BOONEVILLE - Hortense Johnson, 81, died Thursday, Oct. 9, 2003, at the Magnolia Regional Health Center. She was a faithful member of Beckley Chapel Christian Methodist Episcopal Church.

Survivors include three cousins, Clara Guy of Trenton, Ohio, Steven Johnson and wife, Marjorie, of Baldwyn, and Steve Bell of Booneville; an aunt, Margaret Johnson of Eric, Pa.; an uncle, Jim Johnson of Toledo, Ohio.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John Lee Taylor and Ida Lou Johnson.

HOWARD G. JOHNSON

CORINTH - Howard G. Johnson, 80, died Saturday, July 12, 2003, at the Dogwood Plantation Assisted Living Facility. He was born June 3, 1923, in Memphis, Tenn. He moved to Corinth in 1945 where he was employed by Rubel Department Store as an interior decorator. He later moved to Memphis and was associated with Lowensteins and Goldsmiths as a window designer. In 1960 he created the Enchanted Forest at Goldsmiths and he designed and manufactured the first fiber glass manikins. Following retirement he turned his talents to fine oil painting, which he donated to various museums. The few paintings sold were an effort to raise funds for the memorials to honor the sacrifice of the Confederate soldiers and their patriotic cause. Many of his paintings were exhibited at the Northeast Regional Library.

He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps where he was a fighter pilot, 5th Air Force, Pacific Theater. He enlisted Dec. 8, 1941, one hour after war was declared. He attained the rank of Captain and was presented the Distinguished Flying Cross Air Medal, two Purple Hearts and the New Zealand Badge of Honor.

He held membership in the Shiloh SCV Camp 1454, Military Order of the Stars and Bars, charter member of Friends of Shiloh, Friends of Beauvoir, the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and founder-member of the Jefferson Davis Society. He received many awards, certificates and honors for his work and contributions to the preservation of Southern Heritage.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the McPeters Funeral Home Chapel in Corinth with the Rev. Dennis Smith, the Rev. Warren Jones and Joe McEwen officiating. Burial will be in the Shiloh National Military Park in the Shiloh Methodist Church Cemetery near the historic log church he helped rebuild.

Survivors include his wife, Delores Reinhart Johnson of Corinth; two sons, Jerry Johnson of Senatobia and Ricky Johnson of Corinth; two daughters, Judy Joyce and her husband, Ronnie, of Huntsville, Ala., and Sherri Rutledge and her husband, Mike, of Corinth; nine grandchildren, Jeff Joyce, Sean Johnson and his wife, Christine, Christian Johnson and his wife, Beth, Mark Joyce and his wife, Ramona, Angle Pilcher and her husband, Terry, Eric Rutledge and his wife, Shelly, Eliza Kate Rutledge, Jacob Johnson and Ben Johnson.

James B. "Jim" Johnson, 63, died Sunday, Nov. 4, 2001, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Booneville after an extended illness.

Services were Wednesday, Nov. 7, at 11 a.m. at McMillan Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Ben Parman officiating. Burial was in Gaston Cemetery.

Mr. Johnson had a 40 year career in the automobile business, having owned franchised dealerships in Illinois, Texas and Louisiana. He had resided in Shreveport, La., the past 10 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Bossier City, La. He was preceded in death by his father, Jeff B. Johnson.

He is survived by his mother, Nell Johnson of Booneville; two daughters, Christie Courtney and her husband, Bud, of Oakland; Tenn., and Candice Williams and her husband, Wes, of Dallas; three sons, Bryan Johnson and his wife, Cindy, of Sugarland, Texas,

CORINTH - James Edward Johnson Jr., 52, died Saturday, July 19, 2003. He was born Sept. 29, 1951, to James Edward and Doris Biggerstaff Johnson. He was a self-employed sheet metal/welder contractor.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Corinthian Funeral Home. Burial will be in Shady Grove Cemetery at Burnsville.

JAMES HAROLD JOHNSON

CORINTH - James Harold Johnson, 85, died Tuesday, April 20, 2004, at his home after a long illness. He was a retired businessman and owner of Johnson Office Products Inc. for 50 years. He graduated from Corinth High School in 1926 and attended Milligan College in Tennessee before joining the U.S. Army at age 23. He entered the Army as a private, then transferred to the U.S. Army Air Corps. After training at Keesler Air Field in Biloxi, he attended Officers Training School and became a 2nd lieutenant. In July 1943 he was sent to Burma, where he served in three major campaigns, one of which included leading the first organized convoy of troops over the famous Ledo-Burma Road. While in Burma he was in charge of 2,000 troops in the 382nd Airborne Division. At the time of discharge he had reached the rank of major and received a Medal of Honor, and a Air Medal and three Presidential Group Citations for his service in World War II.

He was a member of Waldron Street Christian Church. He was a Sunday school teacher for the Christian Crusaders Class for 35 years and a deacon for 40 years. He was an avid golfer at Hillandale Country Club, where he won seven club championships. He loved spending time with his family and friends.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at McPeters Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ted Avant officiating. Burial will be in Henry Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife, Martha T. Johnson of Corinth; three sons, Hugh Blackman of Columbus, Ohio, George Grant Johnson of Flagstaff, Ariz., and James H. Johnson Jr. of Corinth; two daughters, Susan J. Ross of Rienzi and Alice J. GUNTOWN - James T. "Tom" Johnson, 72, died Saturday, Nov. 8, 2003, at his home after a brief illness. He was a member of the Hillcrest Church of Christ and an employee of Tommy Brooks' Oil Company.

Services will be at 3:30 p.m. today at Waters Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Daniel Whitworth and Bro. Tom Johnson officiating. Burial will be in the Campbelltown Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Gay Johnson of Guntown; one daughter, Kim Chapman and her husband, Chad, of Memphis; three sons, Tom Johnson and his wife, Carol, of Franklin, Tenn., Billy Johnson and his wife, Metta, of Baldwyn, and John Johnson of Memphis; his daughter-in-law, Mary Johnson of Baldwyn; five sisters, Eloise Storey of Rock Springs, Ga., Mary Love Jumper of Lafayette, Ga., Joyce Pannell, Charlotte Mead and Gail Johnson, all of Guntown; eight grandchildren, Dustin Johnson, Cody Johnson and his wife, Amy, Jennifer Johnson, Stephanie Johnson, Johnna Johnson, Chad Chapman Jr., Corey Chapman and Kayla Chapman.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lottie and Dempsy Johnson; and one sister, Charlene Hill.

Pallbearers will be Tommy Brooks and the Staff of Tommy Brooks' Oil Company.

JAMES JOHNSON

CORINTH - James Thelmer Johnson, 91, died Saturday, Aug. 9, 2003, at the Alcorn Health and Rehab. In the late 1940s he was ordained to serve as a deacon. He also served as a Sunday school teacher and superintendent for many years until his health declined. He sang with the Note Singers at Mt. Pleasant M.B. Church and the 5th Sunday Association Note Singers. He was a member of Evening Star Lodge No. 335 and the Eastern Star for more than 40 years. He was a farmer and an employee of the Federal Compress in Corinth until his retirement in the early 1980s.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Mt. Pleasant Church in Kossuth with the Rev. Lamar Walker and the Rev. Benjamin Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Liberty Cemetery. Grayson Funeral Services of Corinth is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include four sons, Joseph L. Johnson and wife, Gwendolyn, of Atlanta, the Rev. Benjamin F. Johnson and wife, Margaret, of Indianapolis, Ind., Billy D. Johnson and wife, Lula, of Drew, and Collus Johnson and wife, Jeanette, of Atlanta; two daughters, Hazel Montgomery of Chicago and Sallie Harden of Atlanta; two brothers, Theodore Johnson of Sarasota, Fla., and Henderson Johnson and wife, Sederia, of Memphis; two sisters, Sarah Hands of Chicago and Alverta Caldwell of Hamilton, Ohio; 22 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great-grandchildren.

JANE JOHNSON

TISHOMINGO - Jane Johnson, 68, died Friday, Sept. 2, 2005, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis. She was a native of Yalobusha County and was retired as a nurse. She operated the Tishomingo County Red Cross for 6 1/2 years. She was a member of Tishomingo Methodist Church where she served as church recorder. She was preceded in death by her father, Olen Nichols.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Tishomingo Methodist church with Bro. Gary Glacier, Bro. Rick Wells and the Rev. Bill Burcham officiating. Burial will be in the Forked Oak Cemetery. Deaton Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include her husband of 44 years, Bobby Johnson of Tishomingo; one son, Jack Johnson and wife, Wanda, of Boliver Tenn.; her mother, Arnell Nichols of Tishomingo; four sisters, JoAnn Walden and husband, Bob, of Paden, Cletus Carson and husband, Boots, Edith Cox and husband, Larry, all of Iuka, and Fredia Hale and husband, Mike, of Tishomingo; many beloved nieces and nephews and great-nieces.

Pallbearers will be Stacy Stepp, Tim Cox, Jeff Cox, Clayton Cox, Brett Malone and James Tennyson. Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Burns and Kenny Walden.

CEPHUS JOHNSON

Jasper Cephus Johnson, 76, died Friday, Dec. 22, 2000, as the result of a fire at his residence in Booneville.

Graveside services were Sunday, Dec. 24, at 2 p.m. at Jones Cemetery with Bro. Austin Shook officiating. Booneville Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Johnson was born July 10, 1924, in Prentiss County, the son of Ferdie and Cora Lambert Johnson. He was a sheetrock hanger. He enjoyed gardening and playing pool.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years,

Edith Henderson Johnson, whom he married Nov. 11, 1944; a stepson, Dorce Ray Barrett and his wife, Sheila, of Booneville; a brother, Fred Johnson of Booneville; three step grandchildren; three step great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Carmon Johnson and Eber Johnson.

His nephews were pallbearers.

JOHN DEE JOHNSON

GOLDEN - John Dee Johnson, 48, died Saturday, Sept. 17, 2005, at the Red Bay Hospital. He was born in Memphis to Rufus De Johnson and Linnie Mae Ross Johnson. He was a truck driver and a volunteer fire fighter. He served in the Tennessee National Guard. He attended Patterson Chapel Church of God. He was preceded in death by his parents, five sisters and one brother.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Patterson Chapel Church of God with Bro. Ricky McMickin and Bro. David Kelley officiating. Burial will be in the Butler-Golden Cemetery. Deaton Funeral Home of Red Bay is in charge of the arrangements.

ALPINE - Lillie Faye Johnson, 89, died Sunday, Dec. 16, 2001, at her residence after an extended illness. She was a homemaker and a member of the Assembly of God Church in Guntown.

LILLIAN JOHNSON

BOONEVILLE - Lillian M. Chittom Johnson, 78, died Wednesday, March 30, 2005, at the Gilmore Memorial Hospital in Amory. She was born March 9, 1927, to the late Elmond and Dora Stennett Chittom. She married Farris Johnson, and they moved to Lebanon, Tenn. After his death, she moved to Fort Meyers, Fla., where she worked at Wal-Mart. She moved back to Booneville in 2000 to live with her brother. She was a member of Wesley's Chapel Worship Center. She enjoyed cleaning house and yard work.

Services will be at 11 a.m. today at McMillan Funeral Home with Bro. Robert McCoy officiating. Burial will follow in Oaklawn Memorial Park.

Survivors include her brother, Bill Chittom of Booneville; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and a brother, Wade Chittom.

Nephews will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation will continue until service time today.

LORENE JOHNSON

Lorene Johnson, 66, died Sunday, Aug. 26, 2001, at the Iuka Hospital. She was a member of Antioch Freewill Baptist Church.

Services were at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Antioch Freewill Baptist Church with Bro. Bobby Elliott officiating. Burial was in Antioch Cemetery. Cutshall Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include two daughters, Shirley Ann Mills of Corinth, and Jennie and Russell Brewer of Burnsville; a brother, Billy Blakney of Burnsville: three sisters, Christine and Terrell Spoon,

and Norma Jean and Rex Julen, all of Burnsville, and Earnestine Whitfield of Cocoa, Fla.; four grandchildren, Dee Anna Gray of Olive Branch, Jennifer Voyles of Burnsville, and Bradley B. Mills and Jacob Mills, both of Corinth; a great-grandchild, Hannah Voyles.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Willard Johnson, and a son, Tex J. Johnson.

KETHA C. JOHNSON

LANDMARK - Ketha C. Johnson, 91 died Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2002, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Booneville. She was born Nov. 21, 1910, in Hayti, Mo. to Charles Anthony Crest and Carme Settle Crest. She had lived in the Lanmark community for four years. She was a 1929 graduate of Steele High School in Steele, Mo. On March 10, 1933, she married Lewis W. "Johnnie" Johnson, who was serving with the U. S. Navy in Panama. She was a homemaker and a Navy wife, living in several locations over the years. An avid cook and seamstress, she also enjoyed playing bridge.

A memorial service was held Aug. 31 2002, at the First Baptist Church of Steele, Mo., with the Rev. Jim Mouse the Rev. Harold Norton and the Ref Gary Bunch officiating. Burial was in the Holly Cemetery in Steele. The John UI German Funeral Home of Steele, Mo was in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include a daughter, the Rev. Denise M. Earls and her husband the Rev. Dr. Ray C. Earls of Indianola five grandchildren, Lynn Marie Siobusk of Charlotte, N. BURNSVILLE -Larry Gene Johnson, 45, died Tuesday, June 20, 2000 at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, NC. Mr. Johnson was born in Tishomingo County, graduated from Burnsville High School in 1973. and resided in Burnsville until 3 years ago when he moved to Lillington, NC. He was employed as a truck driver. He was also a 32 Mason and a Baptist.

Lucille Melton Knight Johnson, 87, died Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2001, at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo following a long illness.

She was born Aug. 24, 1914, in Prentiss County, the daughter of John Noah Melton and Sally Augusta Pardue Melton. She was a homemaker and a charter member of the Independent Church of God, where she served as a Sunday School teacher and sang in the choir. She enjoyed gardening, growing flowery and helping others.

She is survived by seven sons, John H. Knight and his wife, Gene, of Columbus, Billy W. Knight and his wife, Sue, of Ft. Worth, Texas, Robert G. Mrs. Maurene Rushing Johnson, 82, of Laurel, MS. died on January 23, 2001 at her daughter's residence in Caledonia, MS.

Graveside services were at 10:00 a.m. Friday at Lake Park Hills Cemetery in Laurel, MS. Dr. Randall Turner officiated.

She was a retired registered nurse, and a member of First Baptist Church in Laurel.

She was preceded in death by her husband: Ralph Jake Johnson in 1997.

Mrs. Johnson is survived by two sons: Lesley Johnson and Roger Johnson both of Laurel; two daughters, Gail Yoder of Laurel, MS and Nelda Brown of Caledonia, MS; two brothers, Arlon Rushing of Iuka, MS and Milton Rushing of Hammond, IND; two sisters, Merle LeBlanc of Iuka, MS and Montrey Rountree of Republic, MO; 16 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

CORINTH - Maxine Johnson, 60, died Wednesday, March 30, 2005, at the Magnolia Regional Health Center. She was born Nov. 4, 1944, in Alcorn County to James "Tee" and Dora May Hale Faulkner. She was a retired employee of Bensinger Dry Cleaners in Memphis and a member of West Corinth Pentecostal Tabernacle Church. She enjoyed her family, and eating hot tamales and Chinese food.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Corinthian Funeral Home with the Rev. Merl Dixon officiating. Burial will be in Holly Baptist Church Cemetery.

MILDRED JOHNSON

IUKA - Mildred T. "Sis" Johnson, 85, died Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2004, at the Iuka Hospital. She was a former beautician in Iuka and a retired nursing assistant at the Tishomingo County Hospital. During World War II she was a riveter at Ingalls Shipyard in Pascagoula and an employee of a munitions plant in Tennessee. She was a member of Rocky Springs United Methodist Church. She was a wonderful caregiver to many family members.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Cutshall Funeral Home Chapel in Iuka with the Rev. Tommy Jennings officiating. Burial will be in Hubbard Salem Cemetery.

BELMONT - Myrtle Audry Johnson, 77, died Wednesday, July 23, 2003, at her home. She was a native of Tishomingo County. She was a retired employee of Blue Bell after 27 years and a member of New Bethel Baptist Church.

TISHOMINGO - Nelda Coker Johnson, 72, died Saturday, Jan. 25, 2003, at Baptist Hospital East in Memphis, Tenn. She was a L. P.N. for Baptist Hospital in Jackson, Miss. She retired after 35 years of service. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Johnson, in 2000.

IUKA - Noonan Dwight Johnson, 64, died Tuesday, June 3, 1997, as the result of an automobile accident on Turnpike Mountain Road in Iuka. He was an Army veteran and a member of Providence Baptist Church.

QUINDON JOHNSON

MARIETTA - Quindon Johnson, 89, died Wednesday, March 16, 2005 at the Baptist Hospital in Booneville.

He was a retired farmer and rural mail carrier, an avid hunter and fisherman, and member of Siloam United Methodist Church.

ORA MAE JOHNSON

Ora Mae Johnson, 63, died Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2001, at the Iuka Hospital.

Services were at 2 p.m. Friday at Ludlam Funeral Home Chapel with Minister Jerry Copley officiating.

Survivors include a brother, Cecil Johnson of Iuka; two sisters, Ruthie Arnell Lambert and Ruby Letchworth, both of Iuka.

She was preceded in death by a brother, James Clyde Johnson.

QUINN C. JOHNSON

Services for Quinn C. Johnson, 72, were Friday, Aug. 23, 1985, at 2 p.m. at the George A. Smith and Sons Main Street Chapel with Dr. Walter Taylor, the Rev. George Hollander and Dr. John Wilson officiating. Burial was in Highland Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Johnson, a part-time employee of Jackson National Bank and a retired Tennessee Valley Authority employee, died Wednesday morning, Aug, 21, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital after a four-week illness.

He was born in Mississippi, son of the late Earl and Sammie Rodgers Johnson, served in the armored division of the Army during World War II and had live Jackson since 1945.

Mr. Johnson retired 1977 from TVA as the power stores manager and had worked since 1980 at Jackson National in the automatic tellers division.

He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 1848 and the American Legion and was a charter member and president of the TVA Retirees. He was a member of West Jackson Baptist Church and served as president of the Jim Linton Sunday School Class. Mr. Johnson was a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason, a member of a lodge in Pontotoc, Miss., and attended meetings at Lodge No. 45. He also belonged to the Al Chymia Shrine Temple in Memphis. He was preceded in death by his first wife, the former Addie Eubank, in 1969.

He is survived by his wife, Lila Presley Johnson; a daughter, Delores TAylor of Castleberry, Fla.; two stepsons, Don Lee Keith of New Orleans, and Roy H. "Butch" Caldwell of Booneville; two sisters, Duff McAfee of Pulaski and Francis Wages of Jackson, Miss.; three grandchildren, Nathan Taylor, John Taylor and Aubrey Taylor, all of Castleberry; and two step grandchildren, Jessica Caldwell and Scott Caldwell, both of Booneville.

Pallbearers were David Jones, David Hardin, Marvin LaRue, Perry Moss, James Davidson and Robert Wayne McAfee.

IUKA - Patty Lou Johnson, 75, died Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2003, at her home. She was a member of the Iuka Church of God. She enjoyed growing flowers and watching her bird feeders.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Mose Johnson; her parents, George and Fannie Hubbard; a son, Johnny Johnson; a sister, Pearlie Gray; and five brothers, Horace, Carmon, Merle, Grady and James Hubbard.

POTTS CAMP - Pearl Whaley Johnson, 88, died Thursday, June 5, 2003, at the Magnolia Regional Hospital in Corinth. She was born June 30, 1914, in Potts Camp to Richard Lewis Whaley and Bernie Albert Floyd. She was a homemaker and a seamstress and a member of the Macedonia Methodist Church. Her grandmother, Elizabeth Caldonia Potts Floyd, was the granddaughter of the founder of the town of Potts Camp, Erasmus F. and Elizabeth Brownlee Potts.

Services will be at 11 a.m. today at the Holly Springs Funeral Home with the Rev. Paul Knight officiating. Burial will be in the Old Macedonia Cemetery.

Survivors include two sons, Cecil Johnson and his wife, Hazel, of Potts Camp, and Freddie Johnson Sr. and his wife, Connie, of Holly Springs; two daughters, Bobbie Ann Young of Nesbit and Malinda Todd of Corinth; one brother, Fred K. Whaley of Potts Camp; one sister, Doris Whaley Walsh of Jackson; nine grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild.

BOON ILLE - Phillip Gene Johnson, 42, died Friday, Dec. 5, 2003, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Booneville, He was employed by S & J Steel builders for 22 years before becoming disabled. He was a member of the Jacinto Church of Christ. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and racing.

CORINTH - R.C. "Buddy" Johnson Jr., 74, died Monday, July 25, 2005, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis. He was a native, a lifelong resident and lifelong automobile dealer in Corinth. He began working with his father at the age of 11. He attended the First Baptist Church and served in the Army National Guard. A loving husband, father and grandmother, a storyteller and a people person, he supported and encouraged his grandchildren, especially the baseball players.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at McPeters Inc. Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Dennis Smith officiating. Burial will be in Henry Cemetery.

GERMANTOWN, Tenn. - Rodney "Craig" Johnson, 41, formerly of Corinth, died Friday, Nov. 26, 2004, at his home in Germantown after a long illness. He was a R.N. at St. Jude Research Hospital for the past four years. He loved his work and due to his own illness, he could relate with the children. He was a graduate of Corinth High School, the University of Mississippi and received his B.S.N. from the University of Memphis. He was previously associated with the Baptist Central, Methodist and St. Frances Hospital. He worked with his father in the family business prior to his nursing career. He was a member of the Collierville Church of Christ.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the McPeters Funeral Home Chapel in Corinth with Minister G. W. Childs and the Rev. Dennis Smith officiating. Burial will be in the Henry Cemetery.

MRS. SAM JOHNSON

Shortly after four o'clock Wednesday afternoon death came as a gentle release to Mrs. Sam Johnson, 53, who had suffered an unconquerable malady for several years finally succumbing after many long weeks of suffering.

Before her marriage to Mr. Johnson 25 years ago she was Theressa Devaughn daughter of H. M. & Mary Olive Devaughn, an early pioneer family of Baldwyn. There she grew up a somewhat reserved but charming girl beloved by family and friends. After she came to Booneville she soon found her way into the hearts of neighbors and a circle of devoted friends. Kindly in all her ways, a loving wife and stepmother, she cherished the finest ideals of manhood and graced life about her with an aura of happiness, goodness was a synonym for the live she lived.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday afternoon at five o'clock at McMillan Funeral Home, her pastor Bro. Thad Ferrell officiating, assisted by Bro, J. D. Thompson. She loved her church, was a faithful member of her Eastern Star and practiced the tenets of her religion in her daily life. Even unto the end, before she lapsed into unconsciousness, friends who called received her gracious though faint smile.

She leaves her husband Sam and stepdaughter Mrs. Harold Robertson of this place.

Surviving also are three sisters, Mrs. George Gentry of Baldwyn, Miss May Devaughn of Tupelo and Mrs. R. E. McMillan of Fort Worth, Texas; three brothers, Clint Devaughn and Townes Devaughn of Baldwyn and J. H. Devaughn of Palo Alto, California.

CORINTH - Theodore "Head" Johnson, 89, died March 28, 2004, in Sarasota, Fla. He was farmer, employed with the Worsham and Simmons families. He was a member of Parkway Church of Christ.

Theron Johnson, 73, died Tuesday. November 11, 1997, at his home after a long illness. He was a retired logger and a Primitive Baptist.

Thomas Clabern Johnson, 85, of Booneville, died Monday morning, Sept. 21, at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Booneville after an extended illness.

John Clarence McCoy. 88, of 300 N. Smith St., Booneville, died Monday, April 11, at the Baptist Mem al Hospital In Booneville after an extended illness.

Services were Wednesday, April 13, at 3 p.m. at McMillan Funeral Home with Doyle Ferrell and Pete McCoy officiating. Burial was in Gaston Cemetery.

Mr. McCoy was retired from the Motor Vehicle Comptroller's Office, Hee was a veteran of World War 11 and a Mason.

He is survived by a brother, Elmer McCoy of Booneville: two sisters. Gladys Goodin and Miss Annice McCoy, both of Booneville; and nieces and nephews.

THOMAS M. JOHNSON

HOUSTON, Texas - Thomas M. Johnson, 70, formerly of Iuka, died Monday, Sept. 2, 2002, in Houston, Texas. He graduated from Iuka High School in 1951 and entered the Air Force, where he served as a medic. He later moved to Houston, Texas, where he retired from the Harris County Sheriffs Department. He was a cardiovascular EMT.

FULTON - Tony Johnson, 40, died Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2002, at the North Mississippi Medical Center. He was born March 9, 1962, in Itawamba County to Johnny Kee and Katy Johnson. He worked at the sawmill and attended the Maple Springs Church of God.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Grady Johnson, and his father, Johnny Kee.

VERA JOHNSON

GOLDEN - Vera Johnson, 94, died Sunday, Aug. 8, 2004, at Booneville Baptist Hospital. She was born July 3, 1910, in Itawamba County to the late John E. and Catherine McKee Johnson. She was one of the oldest members of Salem Baptist Church. She received her B. A. degree from Mississippi State University and taught for more than 40 years in Itawamba County, Belmont and Pontotoc City schools. She devoted her life to helping her church, donating 15 acres of property to the Calvary Baptist Church for a religious retreat. She was responsible for the building of the senior citizens building in the Salem community, which later became a meal site for senior citizens in the area. She enjoyed painting, working with ceramics and fishing.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Senter Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Bob Oneal and Dr. William M. Waddle officiating. Burial will be in Salem Cemetery.

Survivors include two sisters, Oleta Senter and Hildred Howell of Fulton; three brothers, Lester Johnson and wife, Mondell, and Vester Johnson and wife, Eva Lois, all of Fulton, and Alton Johnson and wife, Marie, of Golden; two sisters-in-law, Ruth Johnson of Booneville and Ripple Johnson of Fulton; several nieces and nephews; her caregivers, Jodie Cleveland, Wanda Winstead and Ann Wouldridge.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Beatrice Stephens, and four brothers, Elmer, Alvie, Lemois and Dalton Johnson.

NEW SITE - William C. "Jack" Johnson, 74, died Sunday, April 7, 1996 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Booneville. He was a retired policeman and a member of the East Prentiss Baptist Church. He was an active Mason and a member of the Marietta Lodge No. 188. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Johnson, in 1991.

Services will be at 3 p.m. today at Salts Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev Ronnie Hatfield officiating, and the Rev. Ken Hatfield and the Rev. Russell Clouse assisting. Burial will be in the Little Brown Cemetery.

BOONEVILLE - William Cecil "Jody" Johnson, 83, died Thursday, March 11, 2004, at the Magnolia Regional Health Center. He was a lightweight boxer. He also helped build the first atomic bomb.

Services will be at noon Friday at Ruben Chapel CME Church with the Rev. Henry Damon officiating. Burial will be in Ruben Chapel Cemetery. Patterson Memorial Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include a son, James Robinson and wife, Priscilla; two daughters, Robbie Young and husband, Jimmy, and Charlyn Shepard and husband, Rufus; four sisters, Pearlie Robertson, Mildred Hill and husband, Wade, Martha Gean Jones and Shirley; nine grandchildren; special friends, Frankie, Cedric and Randi, Yolanda, and Antionetta.

GUNTOWN - William I. Johnson, 90, died Sunday, Dec. 28, 2003, at his home in Guntown. He waas a member of Bethel CME Church, where he was a member of the Steward Board. He was a member of Ebernezer Masonic Lodge No. 203. He enjoyed note singing.

Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Bethel CME Church with the Rev. Jeffery Freeman officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Agnew and Son Funeral Home of Baldwyn is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include his wife, Clara Johnson of Guntown; nine nieces, eight nephews; special friends, Bro. Bobby Tyes, Bro. Bishop Robins and Bro. Roy Ellis Beene, all of Guntown.

William Joel Johnson of N e w Site, Rt. 1, died Thursday in the Northeast Miss. Hospital following an extended illness. He was a native of Prentiss County, a member of the Baptist Church, and a retired farmer. He was 79.

Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at Little Brown Church. Burial was in the adjoining cemetery with McMillan Funeral Directors in charge.

BOONEVILLE - William Joseph Johnson, 78, died Thursday, March 27, 1997, at Booneville Baptist Hospital after an extended illness. He was a retired farmer and school teacher and a former supervisor of the South District of Prentiss County. He was a member of Siloam Methodist Church and was an Army Veteran of World War II. He was an avid supporter of gospel music.

William Junior Johnson, 64, of Route 5, Box 201, Booneville, died Thursday. April 9, 1992, at his home after an extended illness.

Services were Saturday, April 11, at 2 p.m. at McMillan Funeral Home Chapel with Danny Short and Bill Moore officiating. Burial was in Little Brown Cemetery.

Mr. Johnson was an employee of the Prentiss County Fourth District and a member of Mt. Nebo Methodist Church. He was a Korean War veteran.

He is survived by a daughter, Glenda Johnson of Booneville; two sons, Harold Wayne Johnson and Gerald Ray Johnson, both of Booneville; his father. Earn Johnson of Booneville; and six grandchildren.

CORINTH - Zona Inez DePoyster Johnson, 80, died Wednesday, May 11, 2005, at the Whitfield Nursing Home in Corinth. She was a member of Strickland Baptist Church. She enjoyed crocheting, wearing pretty jewelry and dressing up. She loved her family and friends.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Magnolia Funeral Home's Chapel of Memories. The Rev. Warren Jones will officiate, and her sister, Patricia DePoyster Burcham, will deliver the eulogy.

BOONEVILLE - Susan L. Jolly, 42, died Sunday, Oct. 12, 2003, at Magnolia Regional Health Center in Corinth. She was born June 12, 1961, in Arkansas to Vivian Kelly. She attended the Church By Jesus Christ. She was a former seamstress at Corinthian Furniture Manufacturers.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Booneville Funeral Home Bro. T.L. McVey with Bro. Eldon McVey, and Bro. Brandon Jolly officiating. Burial will be in Liberty Memorial Garden.

Survivors include her husband, Brandon Jolly of Booneville; two sons, Michael Knight and Phillip Levi Jolly, both of Booneville; her stepfather, Roy Kelly of Booneville; a stepbrother, David Kelly of Booneville; two stepsisters, Deanna Mason of Plantersville and Deborah Kelly of Starkville.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Vivian Kelly, on Nov. 26, 2000.

Pallbearers will be David Kelly, Jeff Jolly, Eric Jolly and Dewight Thompson.

ADRIEL C. JONES

Adriel C. Jones of Fulton, who was serving In the U. S., Marine Corps was killed in an auto-truck collision near Mar Island, California a few days ago. He was 23 years of age and had been in service since the summer of 1940. Three other marines and two civilians were killed and the bodies badly burned in the collision. He is survived by his widow and mother, Mrs. Tamar Owens Jones and four brothers: Paul of Birmingham, Hollis a member of the U. S. Army at San! Diego, Calif., and Herbert and A. C. of Fulton. He is also survived by many other relatives, many of whom live near Liberty church.

His body was sent to Fulton, where funeral services were held and the body was brought here for funeral services and burial at Liberty Monday. The services were in charge of Revs. A: M. Overton of Fulton, J. P. Thompson and 3. E. Roberts of Booneville.

The local American Legion had about fifteen members present, who acted as pall bearers and fired a salute after the body was placed in the rave. Taps was played by Beebee McCuiston of the Booneville Band. There were also five soldiers of the present army in the procession

ALICE JONES

Alice M. Jones, 62, died Monday, May 21, 2001, at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo.

The body was cremated and there was no funeral service. Booneville Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

She was born March 25, 1938, in Forrest City, Ark. She was a waitress.

She is survived by five daughters, Sharon Owens of Whitney, Texas, Barbara Walthers of Jumpertown, Brenda Nesselroad of Memphis, Roshell Lindsey of Fitchberg, Mass., and Felicia Mello of Boston; two sons, Tommy Lindsey of Mendenhall, Miss., and Chuck Mello of Rutland, Mass.; a twin brother, Albert Marks of Arkansas; two sisters, Hester Marks and Georgie Marks, both of Missouri; 13 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

ALTON "PEDDLER" JONES

Alton "Peddler" Jones, 91, of Booneville, died Thursday, Oct. 4, 2001, at the Alcorn Care Inn in Corinth after an extended illness.

Services were Friday, Oct. 5, at 3 p.m. at McMillan Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jeff Jones and the Rev. Kenneth Edge officiating. Burial was in Liberty Cemetery.

Mr. Jones was a retired peddler and farmer and a member of Zion Rest Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Rachel Jones, and his second wife, Gladys Jones.

He is survived by a stepdaughter, Mildred Vick and her husband, Hershel, of Booneville; a stepson, Walter Wren and his wife, Judy, of Booneville; a brother, the Rev. Lawrence Jones and his wife, Doris, of Effingham, Ill.; a sister-in-law, Sadie Jones of Booneville; 13 step grandchildren; eight step great-grandchildren; five step great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Andrew Jones, 69, of Booneville, died Saturday, Oct. 14, 2000, at Corinth Health and Rehabilitation.

Services were Wednesday, Oct. 18, at noon at Beckley Chapel C. M. E. Church with the Rev. Carl Jones officiating. Burial was in the National Cemetery. Patterson Memorial Chapel was in charge of arrangements.

He is survived by two brothers, Marvin Jones and Bobby Jones; and two sisters, Deloris Tynes and Johnny F. Hall.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Jones; his father, A. J. Jones; his mother, Ammie Aline Jones; and a brother, George Jones.

MARIETTA - Annie Lee B. Jones, 84, died Saturday, Jan. 25, 1997, at the Booneville Baptist Hospital after an extended illness. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Little Creek Baptist Church. She was the widow of Hilton Jones. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Martha Sue Jones; and one great-granddaughter, Holly DeVaughn.

BOONEVILLE - Bobby Lee Jones, 74, died Friday, Oct. 18, 2002, at the Magnolia Regional Health Center. He was a retired police officer for the Booneville Police Department and a member of the Civitans.

BOONEVILLE - Betty Warrene Jones, 57, died Sunday, Aug. 22, 2004, at the Tippah County Hospital in Ripley after an extended illness. She attended Blue Mountain College and later graduated from the University of Mississippi with a master's degree in counseling. She was a school counselor for Prentiss County Schools and a counselor for the Benton County Court System. She was a member of Grace Methodist Church in Booneville.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Waters Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. C.D. Edge officiating. Burial will be in Osborne Creek Cemetery.

Survivors include her husband, Danny Jones of Marietta; a son, Will Bingham and wife, Shirley, of Saltillo; a brother, Ben Jones and wife, Carolyn, of the Pratt community; two grandchildren, Grant Shelton and Erica Bingham.

BOONEVILLE - Bobby "Blue" Jones, 61, of the Blackland community, died Saturday, Aug. 7, 2004, at the V. A. Hospital in Memphis after an extended illness. He was a member of the Oak Ridge Church of Christ and a disabled veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a member of the VFW and the American Legion and a sports enthusiast. He was very close to his nephew and great-nephews.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the McMillan Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Calvin Barber and Bro. Beal Coats officiating. Burial will be in the Booneville Cemetery.

Carla Denise Jones, 31, of Booneville, died Thursday, Nov. 9, 2000, at her home after a brief illness.

Services were Saturday, Nov. 11, at 3 p.m. at McMillan Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Greg Johnson and the Rev. Jerry Mitchell officiating. Burial was in Piney Grove Cemetery.

Ms. Jones was a member of Piney Grove Baptist Church and worked at Quartet Manufacturing.

She is survived by her parents, Guy and Millie Jones of Booneville; her grandmother, Emeline Jones of Booneville; one sister, Brenda Foster and her husband, Terry, of Booneville; one brother, Eddie Jones of Booneville; one niece, Kaylee Foster; and one nephew, Rodney Foster; and several uncles, aunts and cousins.

BALDWYN- (Special) - Services for C. O. Jones, a prominent merchant here until his retirement two years ago, will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday from the Nick Waters Funeral Home with Dr. R. L. Palmer, his pastor, and the Rev. Claude McKay of Houston officiating. He was 72. Burial will be in the Masonic Cemetery.

Mr. Jones was born near Baldwyn and as a young man established a mercantile business here that became one of the leading firms in town. He was also a breeder of Jersey cattle, owned extensive farmlands, and took an active part in livestock activities in Lee and Prentiss counties.

Mr. Jones died at 9 p.m. Thursday after a long illness. He leaves two sisters, Mrs. Steve Cole of Jackson and Mrs. Erwin Rowan of Memphis."

BOONEVILLE - David Earl Jones, 74, died Wednesday, Nov. 17, 2004, at the North Mississippi Medical Center after a long illness. He was a retired carpenter, a U.S. Army veteran and a member of Tuscumbia Baptist Church. A lifelong Ole Miss fan, he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He loved his grandchildren and his church.

DEBRA J. JONES

FRIENDSHIP - Debra Jean Jones, 49, died Saturday, Jan. 31, 2004, at the University Medical Center in Jackson after a lengthy illness. A native of Michigan City, Indiana, she was born July 1, 1954. She had lived most of her life in the Tupelo area having graduated from Belden High School in 1972. She played in the Junior High Band at Lawhon School and was a cheerleader at Belden High School. She also studied at Itawamba Junior College to become a surgical technician. Earlier in her life she had worked in the surgery department at the North Mississippi Medical Center. More recently she had been employed with Dr. Richard Warriner's Dental office where she was a dental technician. Spending time with her family, friends and especially her grandchildren is what she enjoyed most. She was also an animal lover and enjoyed caring for her dog, a Chinese Pug.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with the Rev. Robert McCoy and the Rev. Smith Whiteside officiating. Burial will be in the Gilvo Cemetery.

Survivors include her husband, Clifton Rea "Cliff" Jones of the Friendship community; one daughter, Tonya Hall and her husband, Chris, of Baldwyn; her parents, Jean and Robert Walters of Tupelo; one step-brother, Rodger Walters and his wife, Becky, of the Richmond community; two foster brothers, James and Ralph Reece, both of Tupelo; a foster sister, Joyce Witcher of Skyline; her grandmother, Elnora Peirson of Michigan City; her mother-in-law, Dianne Jones of Tupelo; two grandchildren, Kristin and Austin Hall; and special friends, Mary Bell, Alice Starling and the nurses and staff of the Outpatient Infusion Center.

She was preceded in death by her father, Harvey Witcher; her grandparents, Quinton and Winnie Witcher, and Curtis and Bertha Wheeler.

CORINTH - Edgar Jones Jr., 44, formerly of Holly Springs, died Monday, March 21, 2005, at the Delta Regional Medical Center in Greenville. He was a factory worker at Corinthian Furniture Factory in Corinth. He was a member and usher at Pleasant Grove M.B. Church of Corinth. He was a former member of Strawberry M.B. Church.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Strawberry M.B. Church in Holly Springs with the Rev. Johnnie Bobo officiating. Burial will be in Cottrell Memorial Garden in Holly Springs. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home of Holly Springs is in charge of the arrangements.

BOONEVILLE - Elton Jones, 74, died Monday, Nov. 21, 1994, at his home after a brief illness. He was retired. He was an Army veteran of World War II, and a member of Mt. Olive Church of God and the American Legion.

IUKA - Faye Adkins Jones, 51, died Friday, July 11, 2003, at her residence. She was a Baptist and a former employee of the Tishomingo Shoe Company.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at the Cutshall Funeral Home Chapel in Iuka with Bro. Merle Dixon and Bro. Tommy Jennings officiating. Burial will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery.

IUKA - Gaylon Jones, 69, died Friday, March 7, 2003, at the Iuka Hospital. He was a member of the Iuka Baptist Church and the Joe Cobb Sunday School Class. He was a U.S. Army veteran and co-owner of Jones Lumber Company for many years. He was a home builder and developer.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Iuka Baptist Church with the Rev. Roy Bostick officiating. Burial will be in the New Prospect Cemetery. Cutshall Funeral Home of Iuka is in charge of the arrangements.

BOONEVILLE - Gladys Jones, 88, died Saturday, June 30, 2001, at the Longwood Community Living Center in Booneville after a long illness. She was a homemaker and a member of Zion Rest Church of Christ. She was a devoted mother and grandmother.

BOONEVILLE - Gladys Riddle Jones, 83, died Saturday, Jan. 31, 2004, at the Booneville Baptist Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. She was a retired civilian employee of Warner Robbins Air Force Base. She had lived in Warner Robbins, Ga. since 1956, and had recently returned to Mississippi. She was a Baptist.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today at Mackey's Creek Cemetery with Elder Gene Birmingham officiating. McMillan Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include two brothers, William T. Riddle of Booneville and Curtis Riddle of Tishomingo; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert L. and Essie Mae Riddle; one sister, Quana Woodruff; and two brothers, Albert D. Riddle and Cletus Riddle.

LT. COL. HARRY JONES

Lt. Col. Harry Jones, 67, retired from the U. S. Army, died Thursday, June 24, after an illness of two weeks.

Funeral services were Monday, June 28, at the McMillian Funeral Home, with - Rev. Marrei officiating. Burial was in the National; Cemetery in Corinth.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Edna S. Jones, one daughter, Elizabeth Spalding Jones of Booneville; two brothers, Lonnie Jones of Florida and Lloyd Jones of New Albany; two sisters, Mrs. Annie Jones Peavy of Newton, and Miss Vermelle Jones of Hickory.

HELEN JONES

BOONEVILLE ‑ Mary Helen Floyd Jones, 66, died Tuesday, June 6, 2000, in an automobile accident near Baldwyn, along with her grandson. Doug Pharr Jr. She was born Oct. 31, 1933, in Booneville to Curtis and Lillie Bolton Floyd. She was a homemaker and a member of the Booneville Church of Christ. An accomplished artist, she also enjoyed gardening, flower arranging and genealogy. She was a devoted mother and grandmother.

Joint services for Mrs. Jones and her grandson will be at 2 p.m. today at the Booneville Church of Christ with Minister Doug Greenway and Minister Lance Foster officiating. Burial will be in Booneville Cemetery. Booneville Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include her husband of 48 years, Kermit V. BOONEVILLE - Hermon Washington Jones, 78, died Thurs- day, January 5, 1995, at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. He was retired from Inter- national Harvester Company in Memphis after 30 years. He was a member of the Jones Chapel Freewill Baptist Church where he taught Sunday school. He was a veteran of World War II.

BOONEVILLE - Hollis Samuel "Sam" Jones, 83, died Friday, May 27, 2005, at his home. He was born July 19, 1921, in Prentiss County. He was a Pentecostal and a Mason. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War. He was a Bronze Star recipient. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting, farming, swimming, traveling, visiting the Natchez Trace Parkway, dogwood trees and playing his guitar and singing.

Services will be at 3 p.m. today at the Booneville Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Mackie McKinney and Bro. Merl Dixon officiating. Burial will be in the Liberty Cemetery.

Funeral services for Houston R Jones of Booneville, Route 1, will be conducted today (Thursday) at 2:00 p.m. at Liberty Church with Bro. J. A. Thornton officiating. Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery with McMillan Funeral Directors In charge.

Mr. Jones died suddenly of a self-inflicted gunshot wound Tuesday night at his home. He was a native of Prentiss County, a member of the Church of Christ, and a retired farmer. He was 59.

He leaves his wife, Mrs. Sara Leon McCreary Jones; a son, Travis Jones of Libertyville Ill.; three brothers, Clovis Jones and Lex Jones of Booneville, and Howard Jones of Belmont; four sisters, Mrs. Noonan Chaffin and Mrs. Gladys Moore of Booneville, Mrs. Gip Winfield of Mobile, Ala., and Mrs. Archie Smith of Harrisburg, Arkansas.

Hoyle Ray Jones, 70, of Corinth, MS died Sunday, March 5, 2000 at Magnolia Regional Health Center.  He was owner of Hoyle Ray Jones Service Center, Inc. for the last 30 years and also worked for Hardin's Bakery for many years.  He was married for 49 years to Jean Orr Jones.  He loved his family and friends and enjoyed supporting his son David in his stock car racing.  He was preceded in death by his father, Roy Baxter Jones, his mother, Ruby Sweat Jones, father-in-law, C. E. Orr, sisters-in-law, Carolyn Orr Pittman and husband Ronnie Pittman, Sr. Virginia Orr and his brother- in- law. Herschel Franks.

Mr. Jones is survived by his wife of 49 years, Jean Orr Jones of Corinth, MS; his son, Alan David Jones of Corinth MS; his daughter, Barbara Malone and husband Jerry E. of Corinth, MS; five grandchildren, Michael Russell, Jennifer Russell, Matthew Russell, Wesley Jones and Alex Jones; one great grandson, Austin Heath Jones; his mother-in-law Edith Orr of Corinth, MS; sister-in-law, Marilyn Robertson and husband J.B of Corinth MS; brother-in-law James R. James Larry Jones, 48, of New Site, died Saturday, March 27, 1993, at his residence.

Services were Monday, March 29, at 2 p.m. at Salts Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Danny Short and the Rev. Doc Jeter officiating. Burial was in the Siloam Church Cemetery.

Mr. Jones was a lifelong resident of Prentiss County and a truck driver before becoming disabled. He Is survived by a daughter, Rhonda Lynn Jones of Booneville; his father, L. C. Jones of New Site; his mother, Annie May Jones of Booneville; two sisters, Janis Mason of Booneville and Renee Robinson of New Site; and a brother, Lanis Jones of New Site.

JANICE JONES

CORINTH - Janice Spence Jones, 54, died Saturday, March 8, 2003, at the Magnolia Regional Health Center. Se was born Dec. 15, 1948, to the late Hugh and Earlene Spence. She graduated from Ramer High School in 1966, where she was Miss RHS. She was employed with Memorial Funeral Home. She was a member of the Foote Street Church of Christ where she taught children's Sunday School.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Foote Street Church of Christ with Mr. Charles Curtis and Mr. Terry Smith officiating. Burial will be in the Henry Cemetery. Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

BOONEVILLE - Joseph Eli Jones, 60, died Wednesday, June 7, 1995, at his home after a long illness. He was a lifelong resident of Prentiss County, a member of the Free Will Baptist Church and a former employee of Heartland Industries before becoming disabled.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Salts Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Robert E. Picirilli officiating, and the Rev. Paul Long and the Rev. Leonard Ball assisting. Burial will be in the Jones Chapel Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife, Nita Jones of Booneville; two daughters, Jonita "J. J." Jones of Nashville, Tenn., and Regina Garcia of Kingston Springs, Tenn.; one son-inlaw, Jose Garcia of Kingston Springs; one sister, Atha Sellers of Corinth; four brothers, Dencil Jones, Earl Jones, Dalton Jones and Cephus Jones, all of Booneville; two grandchildren, Lucinda Garcia and Kaleigh Garcia.

JOSEPHINE SWAIM JONES

Josephine Swaim Jones died on Monday, May 25, 1959 and was buried in the Masonic Cemetery in Baldwyn. Her obituaries are included here.

"JONES RITES WEDNESDAY BALDWYN, MISS.- (Special)

Services for Mrs. William B. Jones, who died at her home in Baldwyn at 8:25 Monday, following an illness of 10 days, will be held Wednesday morning at 10:30 o'clock at the Baldwyn Baptist Church.

The Rev. H. E. Crawford, and Dr. Robert Palmer will officiate. Burial will be in Baldwyn Masonic Cemetery with Waters Funeral Home in charge.

Mrs. Jones was 76. She was the former Josephine Swaim, daughter of the late Rev. and Mrs. J. C. Swaim, early educators of North Mississippi.

She was born at Marietta and later attended Blue Mountain College where she graduated. She married William B. Jones, businessman, civic and church leader in Baldwyn in 1904.

During her life Mrs. Jones was an active church worker here, taking an active part in the WMU, training union and a member of the executive board of the state WMU for many years.

She taught the men's Bible class for a number of years and for more than 12 years she was the leader of the intermediate group of BTU and was in charge of all the music at the Baldwyn Baptist Church.

Mrs. Jones was active in cultural and civic life in her community. She was a charter member of the book club and an honorary member of the club at her death.

Her survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Clanton Sansom of Baldwyn; one brother, J. C. Swaim, Jr. of Dallas, Texas; one sister, Miss Ana [sic] Lou Swaim of Baldwyn.

The body will lie in state at the First Baptist Church here from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. Wednesday.

BOONEVILLE - Leon Jones, 96, died Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2004, at Booneville Baptist Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. She was a homemaker, a factory worker and a member of the Booneville Church of Christ. She enjoyed needlework, sewing and traveling.

Merrill Louree Jones of Booneville died Wednesday, Dec. 28, 1994, at the Magnolia Hospital in Corinth after a brief illness.

Services were Friday, Dec. 30, at 2 p.m. at Salts Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Milton Koon officiating. Burial was in Osborne Cemetery.

Mrs. Jones was a graduate of Mississippi State University and a retired teacher with 37 years of service in the Prentiss County School System. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Booneville where she served many years as a Sunday school teacher. She was the widow of Omar W. Jones and the daughter of the late Ben and Warrene Weeks.

She is survived by one daughter, Betty Jones of Booneville; one son, Ben Jones of Baldwyn; and two grandchildren. Will Bingh and Erica Bingham.

REV. NORLIN JONES SR.

BOONEVILLE - The Rev. Norlin D. Jones Sr., 75, died Sunday, March 16, 2003, after a long illness. A Free Will Baptist minister, he pastored the Randall Memorial and First Free Will Baptist Churches in Memphis from 1955 to 1966. He served as home missionary/church planter for the State of Tennessee and the National Association of Free Will Baptists. He founded the First Free Will Baptist Church of Jackson, Tenn. He then moved to Daytona Beach, Fla., where he founded the Daytona Beach Free Will Baptist Church. He also pastored several Free Will Baptist Churches in Mississippi. He served in the U.S. Army from 1946-1948 and was stationed in Tokyo, Japan. After his marriage he moved to Memphis and worked as a tool and die pattern maker for International Harvester Corp. until entering the ministry full time.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at McMillan Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Terry Booker and the Rev. Leonard Ball officiating. Burial will be in Jones Chapel Cemetery.

ROBERT BEE (R. B.) JONES

Robert Bee (R. B.) Jones, 89, of Booneville, died Monday, March 5, 2001, at Beverly Health and Rehabilitation Center in Tupelo.

Services were Saturday, March 10, at 1 p.m. at Springhill Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. James Adams officiating. Burial was in Springhill Cemetery. Patterson Funeral Home in Corinth was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Jones was a janitor at First United Methodist Church of Booneville for a number of years. He was a lifelong member and deacon at Springhill M. B. Church and Master Mason Goodman 20-C. He completed a fifth grade education at the Prentiss County Colored School. His hobbies were fishing and gardening.

He is survived by a daughter, Jane Copeland; grandchildren, Freddie Copeland Jr., Russell Copeland, Catara Copeland and Shea Heavens; and one great-grandchild

He was preceded in death by his wife, Addie Mae Baptist Jones; daughter, Minnie Ethel Heavens; sister, Ruth Jordan; parents, Bill and Minnie Jones.

BOONEVILLE - Ruth Jones, 87, died Saturday, Dec. 27, 1997, at the Longwood Manor Nursing Home in Booneville after an extended illness. She was a riomemaker and a member of Blythes Chapel Methodist Church. She was the widow of Alvin E. Jones. She was preceded in death by one son, Jack Jones and one great-grandchild.

CORINTH - Sanford A. Jones, 79, died Friday, March 11, 2005, at the Magnolia Regional Health Center. He was born Feb. 13, 1926, in Alcorn County to the late Earnest and Zettie Gatlin. He was retired from Intex Plastic after 26 years. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II as an MP. He was a member of the Shady Grove Baptist Mission. He enjoyed bluegrass music and walking outdoors.

Tony Carrol Jones, 47, died Monday April 6. 1998 at his home after, long Illness, He was a disabled construction worker. He enjoyed traveling.

TRAVIS J "HUMPY" JONES

Travis J. "Humpy" Jones, 65, of Booneville, died Friday, Dec. 20, 1996, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Booneville after a sudden illness.

Services were Sunday, Dec. 22, at 2 p.m. at McMillan Funeral Home Chapel the Rev. Danny Short officiating. Burial was in Old Booneville Cemetery at Fairview.

Mr. Jones was retired from US Steel after 32 years. He was a Baptist, Korean an Anne veteran and member of the VFW. He was preceded in death by his parents Willie and Bessie Jones; and three brothers, Frank Jones, Cecil Jones, and Trammel Jones.

He is survived by three daughters, Rhesa Magnabosco of South Holland, Ill., Beth Whiunann of Whiting, Ind., and Tresa Tressler of Hobart, Ind.; one son, Travis Wayne Jones of Portage, Ind.; two brothers, Vernon Jones of Baldwyn Ian W. Jones of Booneville; 15 grandchildren; and his companion of 21 years Lois Jones.

MRS. UTAH JONES

Utah Vanderford Jones, 81, of the Jacinto community, died Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2001, at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo after a brief illness. Services were Friday, Aug. 17, at 2 p.m. at Mt. Olive Church of God with the Rev. William Hayward Burcham officiating. Burial was in the Jones Family Cemetery. McMillan Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Jones was a retired factory worker and a homemaker. She attended Mt. Olive Church of God. She was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Pearl Vanderford; one sister, Opal McAnally; and two brothers, Milburn and Elver Vanderford.

She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Norvle Fletcher Jones; five daughters, Cannon Kennedy and her husband, Herbert Ray, of Corinth, Margaret Houston and her husband, Johnny, Martha Noe and her husband, Jaye, Wanda Ross and her husband, Scotty, all of Jacinto and Diane Greenhaw and her husband, Thomas Wayne, of Gadsden, Ala.; one son, Warner Ray Jones and his wife, Shirley, of Jacinto; three sisters, Arizona Floyd, Kate McNeil and Nina Drew Bishop, all of Rienzi; two brothers, Vernal and Ovie Vanderford, both of Rienzi; 15 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Vernon Jones, 79, of Frankstown, died Thursday. June 13, 2002, at the VA Hospital in Memphis after an extended illness.

He was a member of the Wheeler United Methodist Church and a World War H U. S. Navy veteran. He was preceded in death by one son. Richard Michael Jones.

Vernon O'Neal Jones, 31, of Corinth, died Wednesday, April 12, 2000 in Memphis, He was a member of Wheeler Grove Baptist Church, loved his family and enjoyed doing woodwork and trading. He also loved to go fishing. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marcia Ann Jones and his father, Joseph "Pete" Jones.

"Mrs. W. B. Jones of Baldwyn is Dead" Rites Will Be Tomorrow For Church, Civic Leader

BALDWYN, MISS.

Mrs. William B. Jones, church and civic leader of Baldwyn, died at her home Monday morning after a long illness. She was 76.

Services will be held at First Baptist Church at 10:30 Wednesday morning. The Rev. H. E. Crawford will officiate, assisted by the Rev. Robert L. Palmer. Burial will be in Masonic Cemetery with Waters Funeral Home in charge.

Mrs. Jones is a former member of the executive board of the Women's Missionary Union of Mississippi and was an active church leader. She taught Sunday School and WMU classes at First Baptist Church. She was also director of music at the church until poor health forced her to relinquish that position.

She was a charter member of the Baldwyn Book Club and had held every office in the club. She was born in Marietta and graduated from Blue Mountain College.

She was married to the late W. B. Jones in Baldwyn in 1904. Mr. Jones was an active civic and church leader and Baldwyn businessman until his death in 1958.

She was the daughter of the late Rev. and Mrs. J. C. Swaim.

She leaves a daughter, Mrs. Clanton Sansom of Baldwyn; a brother, J. C. Swaim of Dallas, and a sister, Miss Anna Lou Swaim of Baldwyn."

W. Clovis Jones, 85, of Route 1, Booneville, died unexpectedly at his home Saturday, Aug. 11, 1989

Services were Sunday, Aug. it, at 2 p.m. at McMillan Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Bill Dowdy officiating. Burial was in Friendship Cemetery.

Mr. Jones was a retired farmer.

The Tupelo newspaper published the following obituary. "William Jones Dies At Home. Baldwyn Man Was Ill for 18 Months.

BALDWYN - (Special) - William Berry (Will) Jones, 82, died at his home here early Monday morning, following an 18 months illness.

Services will be conducted at 4 p.m. Tuesday, with the Rev. Eugene Crawford officiating. Burial will be in the Baldwyn Masonic Cemetery, with Waters Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. The body will lie in state at the church one hour prior to time for the services.

Mr. Jones had been a merchant in Baldwyn since 1903. He owned and operated Jones & Co., a dry goods store, until he became ill. He was one of the town's oldest merchants.

Born in the Geeville community, Mr. Jones was a senior deacon of First Baptist Church, where he had been a member 57 years. He was Superintendent of the Sunday 25 years. He had been teacher of the men's Bible Class six years.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Josephine Swaim Jones; one daughter, Mrs. Clanton Sansom, Baldwyn; two sisters, Mrs. Nannie Caldwell, Baldwyn; Mrs. Ray Bear, San Antonio, Texas; one brother, C. L. Jones, Commerce, Texas.

BOONEVILLE - William Earl Jones, 86, died Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2004, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Booneville. He was a member and deacon of Jones Chapel Freewill Baptist Church. He was a retired employee of Brown Shoe Company. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and served under General Patton. He was a member of the VFW and the U.S. Veterans and Volunteers Organization. He enjoyed gardening, hunting and fishing. He was the husband of the late Lena Elizabeth "Lizzie" Jones.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at the McMillan Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Jimmy McAnally and Bro. Leonard Ball officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at the Jones Chapel Cemetery.

Younger "W Y" Jones, 82, of Booneville, died of heart failure after an extended illness Thursday, Sept. 27, 2001, at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Booneville.

Mr. Jones was a member of Biggersville Pentecostal Church and a disabled World War II Army veteran. He was a retired carpenter.

BOONEVILLE - Zenith Miller Jones, 94, died Wednesday, March 23, 2005, at Landmark Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Booneville. She was born Nov. 10, 1910, in Prentiss County to Henry Jackson Miller and Idena Holley Miller. She was a machine operator at Prentiss Manufacturing Company for 30 years. She was a member of Jumpertown Baptist Church. She enjoyed fishing, crocheting, cooking, crossword puzzles and church work.

Kathleen Jordan, 46, of Route 7, Booneville, died unexpectedly Tuesday, Nov. 26, 1985, at the North Mississippi Medical Caster in Tupelo.

Mrs. Jordan was a housewife and a member of Martin Hill Baptist Church.

LAURA JORDAN

TUPELO - Laura Brown Jordan, 73, died Friday, Jan. 16, 2004, at the Tupelo Nursing Center. She was a member of Sacred Hearts Catholic Church in Detroit, Mich., where she was affiliated with the Sacred Hearts Alumni and the "Boppers" Brewster Project Alumni. She graduated from Sacred Hearts Catholic School and attended Wayne State University. She was a former employee of the Detroit Chamber of Commerce. She moved to Tupelo in 2001 to be with her family. She enjoyed sewing, interior decorating, crocheting, refurbishing furniture and her dog, Joy.

A memorial service will be at 5 p.m. Thursday at Grayson-Porter's Mortuary in Tupelo with the Rev. Gary Long officiating.

BOONEVILLE - Anita L. Joshlin, 53, died Friday, March 4, 2005, at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. She was born April 23, 1951, in Los Angeles, the daughter of Raymond Earl and Irene E. Coster Reed. She was a member of Emmanuel United Pentecostal Church and she was a homemaker. She enjoyed singing, going to church, animals and being the First Lady of the Church. She loved her family and being a pastor's wife.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Emmanuel United Pentecostal Church with Bro. Joey Ethridge, Bro. Bobby Pace, Bro. R. H. Hancock and Bro. Terry Barber officiating. Burial will be in the Jumpertown Cemetery. Booneville Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

He attended Fairview Church while living in the Iuka area and was a member of Safe Haven Baptist Church in Senatobia. He was a retired truck driver for Kroger.

CORINTH - John Calvin "Jake" Joshlin, 78, died Tuesday, June 2, 2003, at Williamson Medical Center in Franklin, Tenn. He retired after 18 years as a set-up man with Borg Warner in Bellwood, Ill. He enjoyed working in his yard and garden. He was a Christian man who loved his family and friends.

IUKA - Eldridge "Josh" Joslin, 69, died Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2003, at the Magnolia Regional Health Center in Corinth. He was a member of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church. He was a truck driver and a carpenter. He was a member of the 82nd Airborne in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict and a P.O.W.

Lola Farris Joshlin, 71, of Memphis, died Tuesday, June 11, 2002, at her residence.

Services were Saturday, June 15, at 10 a.m. at Forest Hill Soutt Chapel with burial in Forest Hill South Cemetery. Forest Hill South was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Joshlin was a retired telephone operator with BellSouth Inc.

She was a member of the Pioneer Club with BellSouth and attended Cornerstone Church. She was the widow of Leroy Joshlin.

She is survived by a brother, Herbert Morrow of Corinth.

EARNESTEEN JOURDAN

Earnesteen Jourdan, 87, died Sunday, Oct. 14, 2001, at the North Mississippi Medical Center. She was a retired employee of the Louisiana State Hospital in Jackson, La., and a Baptist. She enjoyed cooking and baking, and was a "grandmother" to many besides her own grandchildren.

Services were at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Cutshall Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Billy Paul Feltman officiating.

Burial was in Mt. Gilead Cemetery.

Survivors include two sons, Curtis Jourdan of Burnsville and Jackie Jourdan of Iuka; two daughters, Nita Cranfield of New Orleans and Ouida Sepehri-Nik of Salt Lake City, Utah; a brother, Guy Barnes of Iuka; 14 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Jourdan; a son, Hershel Jourdan; and a daughter, Linda Courtney.

EDITH JOURDAN

IUKA - Edith Jourdan, 86, died Sunday, March 20, 2005, at the Iuka Hospital. She was a retired nurse and a member of Gospel Lighthouse Pentecostal Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Almous Jourdan.

Services will be at 1 p.m. today at Cutshall Funeral Home Chapel in Iuka with Bro. Bill Burcham and Bro. D.W. Jones officiating. The body will be placed in New Lebanon Freewill Baptist Church at 2:30 p.m., followed by a committal service at 3:30 p.m. at New Lebanon Cemetery.

Survivors include two sons, Randle Jourdan, his wife, Bobbie, and family, and Wendell Jourdan, his wife, Jan, and family, all of Iuka; two daughters, Rachel Hester, her husband, Virgil, and family, and Celeste McCoy and family, all of Iuka; a sister, Syble Pinson Mitchell of Cairo.

Grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.

GLAWKUS L. JOURDAN

Burial Services For Glawkus L. Jourdan

Glawkus L. Jourdan, 93, died Monday, Jan. 18, 1999, at the Marshall Medical Center South in Boaz, Ala. He was born Dec. 18, 1905, in Tishomingo County. He moved to Okolona in 1940. He retired from Meadows Sportswear in 1974 after 25 years. He and his wife then owned Leader Variety Store. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Okolona, where he was a deacon and a member of the men's Bible class, the Treasury Committee, the Welcoming Committee and the Usher Committee.

Services were at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the First Baptist Church in Okolona with the Rev. Randy Lewman and the Rev. Roy McHenry officiating. Burial was in Henry Cemetery in Corinth. Okolona Memorial Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include his brother, Alvis Jourdan of Iuka; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Autie Browning Jourdan; a son, Guy Hoyle Jourdan; and his parents.

Pallbearers were Hansel Scruggs, George Carter, John Herron Sr., Kenneth McVay, Jerry Rogers and Harold Turner.

Honorary pallbearers were the deacons of the First Baptist Church.

Harmon Owen Jourdan, 77, of Route 6, Booneville, died Thursday, Oct. 11, 1990, at his residence.

IUKA - Louise Furniss Jourdan, 89, died Thursday, Feb. 27, 2003, at the Iuka Hospital. She was a devoted member of Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church and a retired bookkeeper with Sears in Memphis.

FORT WORTH, TEXAS - Max Eugene Jourdan, 60, died Wednesday at the Osteopathic Medical Center of Texas in Fort Worth after an extended illness. He was a truck driver, a Baptist and a retired Air Force veteran, serving in the Korean Conflict.

Services will be at 11 a.m. today at the McMillan Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Wallace Pannell officiating. Burial will be in the Piney Grove Cemetery.

BOONEVILLE - Mary Alice Jowers, 69, died Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2005, at her home. She was born Nov. 11, 1935, in Jamestown, N.Y., to Richard and Alice A. Jones Bernhard. She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was a Brownie and Cub Scout leader, a swim team and softball mom, and an avid band booster. She and her husband danced together in several professional venues, winning many competitions and being photographed often. She enjoyed traveling, oil painting and interior design, but her greatest passion in life was her family.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with Bishop John Larsen presiding. Burial will be in the Mormon Cemetery. Booneville Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

CORINTH - Bobbie Nell Jumper, 74, died Sunday, Feb. 8, 2004, at the Magnolia Regional Health Center. She was employed for 20 years with Warwick Electronics in Zion, Ill. She also owned several businesses in Kenosha, Wis. She was a Baptist. She was preceded in death by her husband, Cullen Jumper, in 1989.

Services will be at 11 a.m. today at McMillan Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. William Copeland officiating. Burial will be in Jumpertown Cemetery.

Rites For Col. Marcus Jumper Held Tuesday

Colonel Marcus Jumper of Route 3, Booneville, passed away Monday at 5:40 p.m. in the Caldwell Memorial Hospital in Baldwyn following an illness of two years. He was a native of Tippah and Prentiss Counties, a member of the Paul's Chapel Methodist Church, and a retired farmer. He was 71.

Funeral services were conducted Tuesday afternoon tat Jumpertown Methodist Church with Bro. Joe Crawford officiating. Burial was in the adjoining cemetery with McMillan Funeral Directors in charge.

He leaves his wife, Mrs. Lottie Mae Geno Jumper; three sons, Melvin Jumper of Booneville, Cullen Jumper of Zion, Ill., and Johnny Jumper of Ripley; five daughters, Mrs. Herschel Thompson, Mrs. Ira Parks, Mrs. Emmett Mauney and Mrs. William Yates of Booneville, and Mrs. Jodie Criswell of Ripley; 14 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

CULLEN MARCUS JUMPER

KENOSHA, Wisc. - Cullen Marcus Jumper. 63, died Friday, October 13, 1989, at the Kenosha Hospital and Medical Center. He was a retired press operator with the Wesson Company, a World War II veteran and was a member of the Baptist Church.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at the McMillan Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the Jumpertown Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife, Bobbie Nell Nix Jumper of Kenosha, Wisc.; one daughter, Trudy Shaw of Zion, I11.: two sons, Ronald Jumper and Joseph Jumper, both of Kenosha; five sisters. Mrs. William Yates, Ira Parks and Mrs. Emmitt Mauney, all of Booneville, Jodie Criswell of Ripley and Pat Thompson of Reagan, Tenn. ; one brother, Johnny F. Jumper of Ripley; two grandchildren.

DALE JUMPER

Dale Jumper, 43, of Dry Creek, died Wednesday, July 24. 2002. at his home.

Services were Saturday, July 27, at 2 p.m. at McMillan Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Robert Walker and Bro. Kara Blackard officiating. Burial was in Concord Cemetery.

Mr. Jumper was a member of Concord Baptist Church. He was an employee of Newby's Used Cars and trained racking horses. He was a member of the Racking Horse Breeders Association and a Mason.

He is survived by his wife, Nyla Davis Jumper; his parents, Holland and Jane Jumper of Dry Creek; twin daughters, Hope and Halley Jumper of Dry Creek; two sons, Cassidy Jumper and Colt Jumper, both of Dry Creek; one stepson, Ryne Wilhite of Dry Creek: and his step grandmother, Orilla Jumper of Ripley.

Pallbearers were Larry Taylor, Eddie Owens, Darrell Nunley, Doug Hargett, Ricky Newby Lyle Bullock and Glenn Mauney. Honorary pallbearers were Joel Devers, Charles Hodges and Danny Mauney.

DENNIS MERLE JUMPER

Dennis Merle Jumper, 21, of Route 3, Box 293, Booneville, was killed in a one vehicle accident around 2:30 a.m., Friday, Jan. 20, on Hwy. 370 west of Falkner.

“Jumper appeared to be traveling a little too fast and possibly went to sleep and lost control of his vehicle in a hillcrest and curve,” according to Tippah County Deputy Greg Hopper, investigating officer.

Jumper's 1986 Silverado pickup struck a tree, Hopper said. Jumper was pronounced dead at the scene by Tippah County Medical Examiner‑Investigator Raymond Wilkerson. he said.

Services for Jumper were Saturday, Jan. 21, at 2 p.m. at McMillan Funeral Home with burial in Oak Lawn Memorial Cemetery.

DEXTER JUMPER JR.

BOONEVILLE – Dexter Windham Jumper Jr., 69, died Friday, March 26, 2004, in Lafayette, Ga. He was born July 18, 1934, in Prentiss County to Dexter W. Jumper Sr. and Nettie Green Jumper. He was a graduate of Jumpertown High School and Mississippi State University. He was self-employed in the pest control business.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at the Booneville Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Steve DeVore officiating. Burial will be in Pisgah Cemetery.

Survivors include a daughter, Kimi Crump of Lafayette, Ga.; three sons, Jerran Jumper, Brian Jumper and Steve Jumper, all of Lafayette, Ga.; a brother, Bill Jumper of Booneville; four grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Shirley Jumper and Jerry Palmer.

DENNIS MERLE JUMPER

BOONEVILLE - Dennis Merle Jumper, 21, died Friday at the Tippah County Hospital as the result of an automobile accident. He was a Baptist and was an employee of Bench Craft.

HERSCHEL G. JUMPER

JUMPERTOWN ‑ Herschel G. Jumper, 78, died Thursday, Nov. 22, 2001, at Booneville Baptist Memorial Hospital after a long illness. He was born Feb. 22, 1923 in Prentiss County. He was a graduate of Jumpertown High School and Mississippi State University, and a combat veteran of World War II. He was a retired farmer and a former Prentiss County school teacher. He served eight years as the Prentiss County chancery clerk and eight years as Northern District highway commissioner. He was a member of Jumpertown United Methodist Church. He was a Mason, a Branch and a member of the Scottish Rite, the DAV, VFW, American Legion, the 40 & 8, and the Military Order of the Purple Head. He was a devoted husband, father and "Pa."

Services will be at 1 P. M. today at McMillan Funeral Home Chapel in Booneville with Bro. Mark Anderson officiating. Burial will be in Oaklawn Memorial Park.

Survivors include his wife, Lu Jumper; a son, Gatha Dees Jumper and his wife, Mary; three grandchildren, Donna Jumper, Kathy Jumper Rutherford and her husband, Michael, and Tammy Jumper Davis and her husband, Wally, all of Jumpertown; his great grandchildren Brandon Blankenship. Bonnie Blankenship , Gatha Lee Wren, Brooke Wren, Samuel Hershel Rutherford and Madison Davis, all of Jumpertown; three sisters, Pauline Wilbanks of Memphis, Mildred Graham of Los Angeles and Mary Carmichael of Summerdale, Ali a brother, J.T Cartwright of Booneville; a stepsister, Louis, Beychock of Sarasota, Fla., two stepbrothers, David Cartwright of Booneville and Bill Cartwright of Trussville, Ala. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Ethel Cox Jumper: a brother, James Jumper; and two stepbrothers, Ward and Mitt Cartwright.

Pallbearers will be Bob Strange, Norman Young, Robert Floyd, William Latham, Billy Nance, Billy Sharp, Bill Bain, Joe Childers and Willard Robinson.

Honorary pallbearers will be his fellow veterans of World War II

HOLLIS JUMPER

Hollis Jumper, 78, of Burdette, Ark., died Tuesday, Sept. 14. 1993, fn Hot Springs, Ark., after a long illness.

Services were Thursday, Sept. 16, at 10:30 a.m. at the Cobb Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Sedric Wesson officiating. Burial was in Elmwood Cemetery in Blytheville. Cobb Funeral of Blytheville was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Jumper was born in Jumpertown. He had lived in Arkansas since 1934. He was a retired farmer and a member of the New Liberty Baptist Church. He was the former president of the Mississippi County Union Mission Board, former president of the Burdette School Board, a member of the Mississippi County Quorum Court, a member of the Democrat Central Committee and a deacon at New Liberty Baptist Church where he taught the men's Bible class.

He is survived by a son, Gary Jumper of Burdette, Ark.; one daughter, Sondra. Rose‑Gallagher of New York City; two sisters, Louise Morris of Tupelo and Julia Brinkley of El Reno, Okla.; four grandsons and two great‑granddaughters.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Sam Jumper of Booneville, and three sisters, Mary Michael, Sybil Keenum and, Era Cox: all of Booneville.

IRENE KOON JUMPER

Mrs. Irene Koon Jumper 85, died Thursday morning, in the St. Joseph Hospital in Memphis, after a short illness.

Services were held Friday at 2 p.m. at the McMillan Funeral Home chapel with burial in the Oak Lawn Memorial Cemetery. Bro. Ward Hogland officiated.

She was as Methodist and housewife. She is survived by her husband Sam F. Jumper; one daughter, Mrs. Leista Belue, Booneville; two sons, Douglas Jumper and Dennis Jumper, both of Booneville; two brothers, Cecil Koon and Robert Koon, both of Booneville; six grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

OUIDA GREEN JUMPER

Ouida Green Jumper, 90, of Booneville, died Monday, Jan. 31, 2000, at Williamson Medical Center in Franklin, Tenn., after an extended illness.

Services were Wednesday, Feb. 2, at 3 p.m. at McMillan Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Mark Anderson officiating. Burial was in Oaklawn Memorial Park.

Mrs. Jumper had been the director of the Wesley Foundation at MUW and later at Northeast Mississippi Community College, retiring in June 1985. She was a former member of the Pilot Club and a member of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church in College Grove, Tenn. She was preceded in death by her husband 'he Rev. Zeke Jumper; and one son, Gene A. Jumper.

She is survived by one daughter, Anne Baker and her husband, Ronald, of Thompson Station, Tenn.; one sister, Mavis Morgan of Booneville; three brothers, Gerald Green of Booneville, J. B. Green of Tupelo and B. J. Green of Leighton, Ala.; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

SAM F. JUMPER

Former Supervisor Dies

Sam F. Jumper, 75, a former deputy sheriff and supervisor and a life‑long resident of Jumpertown, died Thursday afternoon. Feb. 9, 1984 at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Booneville following a brief illness

Services were Friday, Feb. 10; at 4 p.m. at McMillan Funeral Home chapel with Bro. Ward Hogland and Bro. Milton Koon officiating. Burial was in Oak Lawn Memorial Park

For most of his adult life Mr. Jumper was a political and civic leader in Prentiss County

He began his political career by being chosen to serve as Trustee of the Jumpertown School District 1 which became an accredited high, school during his term of service.

He was elected constable of the, second district to complete the term of the late, Claude Crafford, He was elected to succeed himself for the following four year term, and following this he served as deputy sheriff for the three successive terms to Sale Martin, Ben Holley, and George Rutherford.

In 1964 he was elected supervisor of the second district in which office he served continuously for three four‑year terms until 1976 when he retired.

One of his ambitions was completed before his retirement by paving the New‑Bryant and Jumpertown‑Blackland Roads which afforded a North‑South and East‑West paved road through his district.

Mr. Jumper was a member of the Church of Christ. He was a third degree Mason of the Booneville Masonic Lodge and a 32nd degree member of the Corinth Scottish Rite Lodge. He was the son of the late Doug and Hattie Murphy Jumper.

He is survived by two sons, Douglas Jumper and Dennis Jumper, both of Booneville; a daughter, Mrs. Leista Belue of Booneville; a brother, Hollis Jumper of Burdette, Ark.; five

sisters, Mary Michael, Sybil Keenum and Era Cox, all of Booneville, Louise Morris of Tupelo and Julia Brinkley of Oklahoma City, Okla.; six grandchildren and seven great‑grandchildren.

JOHN L. JUSTICE

RIENZI - John L. Justice, 64, died Thursday, Dec. 23, 2004, at his home. He worked as a mechanic and also worked for the City of Rienzi.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Hopewell M.B. Church with the Rev. Anthony Willis officiating. Burial will be in Rienzi Cemetery. Patterson Memorial Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include a brother, Leroy Justice; four sisters, Juanita Stovall, Mary Willis, Linda Welch and Canary Justice; a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Justice; his father, Wiley Justice; his mother, Mary Justice; a sister, Nettie Luallen; and two brothers, Sherman and Eddie Lewis Justice.

Visitation will be from noon to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.

VELAR MAE TYRA JUSTICE

Velar Mae Tyra Justice, 78, of Mantachie, died Sunday, Jan. 20, 2002, at the home of her daughter in Verona after a long illness. Funeral services were held Monday, Jan. 21. Burial was in Kirkville Cemetery.

Local survivors include a brother, Joe Tyra of Baldwyn.
