Mrs. Kate Petty Lacy passed away at the family home early Friday morning. She had been in declining health for several weeks.
Mrs. Lacy was a native of
Mr. & Mrs. Lacy were united in marriage 15 November 1885 and had lived in different sections of the county, where they had taught in the schools. The established a high school at Osborne and erected a nice home there. Later they came to Booneville, where they have resided for many years.
Mrs. Lacy was a devoted and
consecrated member of the
She always took a keen interest in social, civic and religious advancements. She was a loyal and devoted wife and a mother, who always was ready to advance her children alone the best lines. She was a woman who appreciated her friends and was always ready to help them. No one had more sincere friends and no one will be more greatly missed than she will.
She is survived by her husband, C. R. Lacy, three sons, Wesley w. of Peoria, Illinois, Eugene P. of Washington City, Irvin of Milwaukee, Wisconsin and two daughters, Mrs. Frank D. Thomas of Kansas City, Missouri and Mrs. Shelby G. Hughes of Findley, Ohio and a brother J. W. Petty of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and 9 grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted at
the Baptist Church Sunday afternoon and were in the chare of her pastor Br. J.
D. Thompson, assisted by Bro. Thad H. Ferrell of the Methodist Church and C. V.
Ralston of the Presbyterian Church. There were many beautiful flowers places
around the casket and later the newly made grave. These attested the high
esteem in which she was held by those who knew and loved her. The body was

Mrs. Kate Petty Lacy passed away at the family home early Friday morning. She had been in declining health for several weeks.

In the death of Thomas Ross Lacy at

He was 73 years of age and born and reared in the eastern part of the county, where the greater part of his life was spent. His father, Carrol Lacy, was one of the pioneer settlers of this section. His mother was a member of the Riddle family. Also pioneers.
Mr. Lacy had taught in the county
schools and had been a traveling salesman and had an interested in farming and
such like. For the past several years he had been a merchant at

Funeral were held Saturday at the Forked Oak church and were in charge of Elder Marlin Ballerd a large crowd was in attendance as a tribute of love and respect. Many beautiful flowers covered the newly made grave. He wag tenderly laid to rest by the side of his sister, Mrs. Patterson.

From Road Down Embankment Pinning Him Underneath
Charleston, Miss., Aug 15 - William
F. Lambert, 57, one of the most prominent citizens of Tallahatchie County, was
killed near Cowart this afternoon when the car he was driving left the road and
went over a 35-foot embankment. He was driving a Buick roadster from
There were no eye witnesses of the tragedy, but a short while ago he suffered a stroke of paralysis and it is believed that he suffered another stroke and thus lost control of the car. At the place where the car was found the road showed that the auto had swerved across to the left of the road and pitched over a deep embankment near Cowart. The car overturned and the windshield rested on Mr. Lambert's neck causing his death.
Mr. Lambert was born in Alabama
near Iuka, Miss., and married in Iuka 32 years ago. He was prominent as an
educator and taught school at Cascilla for four years. For five years following
this he was head of the

Mrs. Lauderdale was a registered nurse at the Booneville Hospital for over 30 years. She was a member of Jumpertown United Methodist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star. She was a Crisis Prevention instructor and instructor for the American Red Cross.

C. Lester Dies Suddenly
The many friends of C. A. (Lum) Lester were greatly shocked when they learned that Mr. Lester had died very suddenly at his home near Liberty Sunday morning.
Mr. Lester was about 59 years of age and had spent his entire life in this section. He was a good citizen and had always taken a keen -interest in the affairs of his community. He was a devoted husband and an affectionate father. He was a member of the Chandlers Chapel church and did what he could to advance its cause.
Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at Chandlers Chapel and were in charge of his pastor, Rev. J. H. Crawford, assisted by Rev, J. D. Thompson of Booneville. Many friends came to pay a tribute of love and respect and many beautiful flowers were placed on his grave, attesting the high esteem in which he was held by those who knew and loved him,
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Leona Holley Lester, one daughter, Mrs. Carl Ratliff of Booneville and four Sons, Cleborn and Hoyt of Gideon, Missouri, Cletos of Lepanto, Ark. and Hubert at home and three brothers, W. H. of Marietta,
D. C. of Rogue Chitto, Miss. and fled of Holliday, Texas and two sisters, Mrs. Maggie Breedlove and Mrs. La Howell of Prentiss County and a large number of other relatives.
The body was laid to rest n the Chandlers cemetery, with Bruce and Rex Lester, Leborn and Leland Howell, Charles Maddox and H. G. Gangwer acting as pall bearers.
The sorrowing relatives have the deep sympathy of many friends in their hours of sad McMillan and Son were in charge of the funeral arrangements.

Mr. J. T. Livingston, age 69, passed away July 26, about one p.m., after 4 weeks of suffering following a stroke of paralysis. Mr. Livingston was a good Christian man and was loved by those who knew him. He will be greatly missed in his community where he was a member of the Baptist church a number of years. He worshiped his Lord and served his church to the best of his ability.
